When to book and through who?

First of all, great site. I'm thrilled to have found it.

Our family is looking at visiting the "House of the Mouse" the first week of October. Based on several sites advise, we are looking at staying at the Pop Century with a preferred room. We are also interested in the 7-day, expiring tickets since it's cheaper, and definately the dining package.

When would be the best time for us to book this vacation? I don't want to book too early and lose out on any discounts/deals that may occur.

Also, who is reliable to book through? I know I can book through Disney itself, but I've read about some agencies like Magical Travel, Mouseketrips, and Small World Vacations supposedly giving good / better rates and offer some incentives. One claims that if a discount comes up, we would be given that rate.

All advise is greatly appreciated.

Re: When to book and through who?

First of all-WELCOME! You have found a great website that has so many (and I mean many) knowledgable people that can answer any question you may have about WDW! My personal theory is you can never book too soon, but I generally book about 6 months or so. I have never used any sites, but I bet you will hear a lot of good things about Mousketrips. They seem to be good. I did go to them once for a quote and it was great, but the trip fizzled and didn't get to use their great deal. Good luck! Make sure you tell us all the details once you get them in order-we LOVE details here! And trip reports! With LOTs of pictures!

First.. Welcome to DC!!

The best person to answer all your questions would be mousketrips, travel agency that is runned by Mickey himself. Go to mouseketrips.com or PM Mickey about any traveling plans you might have. If you have any questions feel free to post. Enjoy!!

Re: When to book and through who?

I would honestly book as soon as you can. This will allow you time to plan and pay off your trip. You will have more time to budget your days and plan the perfect trip for your party. Contact Mousketrips and let mickey take care of everything. Welcome to Dc too. You have found the ideal place to plan.

Re: When to book and through who?

I agree with those who posted before me...... Book early and often. Ok - then just early. You (can research and) request rooms in an area you prefer. Buy the guide books and begin the magic!

Welcome to DC. Honestly, this has been my easiest vacation to plan because of all the help I received here. And I (virtually) met people I plan to meet in person.

Have fun!

Welcome to DC!

I use Disney to plan my vacations, but I've heard nothing but great things about Mousetrips!

Re: When to book and through who?

The biggest advantage I see to using a travel agent like Mouseketrips is that if a discount comes out they'll automatically rebook you at the lowest rate available. You don't have to worry about paying attention every day.

Of course, I DID pay attention, but that's only because something about this madhouse kept me around and interested!

Re: When to book and through who?

I vote for our lovely sponsors, mouseketrips and not only because I dont want Mickey to put me in a timeout!
They truely take the hassel out of it, even if you only do the room or package through them. Then you can still do your air, ADR and anything else you want.
Welcome to DC, you new home while planning a WDW/DL trip.

Re: When to book and through who?

Welcome to DC!!!! We have both booked our own trips, and as of late mouseketrips has booked them for us. Mickey is great to work with and takes all of the hassels out of booking a trip. Depending on when you want to go, the sooner the better, as rates, and rooms fill up. Enjoy.

Re: When to book and through who?

This is the place to find out lots and lots of info for your trip. And it looks like you have the important stuff planned already. But there is so much other stuff to see besides rides. That's when asking lots of questions come in. There were things I never knew about until I read about it on DC.

I know most people are thrilled with Mouseketrips, but I wasn't happy. I guess no one has a 100% batting average.

Why weren't you happy? I was planning on using them for my next trip.

I had a few problems with accuracy; a few instances that could have been lack of clear communication on my part, another mistake was theirs. I did feel like I had to keep on top of things. That being said, I do feel that the benefits outweigh the minor problems.

Re: When to book and through who?

I usually do everything myself, but if you're new to it an agent is probably the way to go. I've never used them but have never heard anything bad about Mousketrips. People around here swear by them.
