To anyone who has brought a 1 yr old to the parks. Which ones were worth your time and which ones werent? I am thinking Magic Kingdom first and foremost. Thanks.

Re: 1 year old

We have done all 4 with a 1 year old. We are doing it again in 5 days with our youngest who will be 17 months. With just one kid, you will find it very easy to do Disney. Baby swap is awesome.

We took my DD 10 days after she turned 1 and she loved the MK! We took her on Pirates and Small World and there were a couple others but those are the 2 she really liked (colorful and lots of noise-ESPECIALLY SW!!). She lounged in her stroller for most of Epcot. We did take her out at the Living Seas and she enjoyed the fish and all. She just enjoyed watching the people. In MGM she ABSOLUTELY loved the Voyage of the Little Mermaid! She was dancing and had a good time-my FIL was holding her and said he didn't know if the people around him were watching her more or the show! She was very entertaining to a lot of people on this trip! I was very surprised-she was good the whole time- she was still on a bottle so we made sure we had enough for the day and she just slept in her stroller (reclined). We left in the am and didn't get back to resort until 10-11 o'clock each night. The only exception was our 3rd day there we went to AK and we weren't impressed and dark clouds rolled in so we headed back to the resort and rested for a couple of hours and then headed over to Epcot for the rest of the night. We also had a 6yo and a 4yo (who actually was the handful ). She loved the princesses-she actually let Snow White hold her. I think a 1yo in the parks is fine! I just found colorful things, music and people were enertaining to her. Have Fun! Sorry I rambled, but I was nervous about taking her and it turned out great, so I have to share!

Re: 1 year old

My youngest went when he was 10 months old, 26 months old, etc.. He rode everything we did that didn't have a height restriction. The rides he couldn't go on we used fast pass so DH would go w/ older DS while I stayed w/ the baby and then we'd switch. We also used Baby Swap. He really slept a lot in the stroller on the first couple trips.

Re: 1 year old

Great question--thanks for posting this. I'm new to the boards and I was just about to post and ask the same thing. I was thinking that my son would do well at MK but I wasn't sure about the other parks. And thank goodness for the "baby swap".

The baby changing stations are awesome in all the parks.

Re: 1 year old

Welcome to both "newbies." I've had 2 of my 3 kids at WDW at age one. We had a great time, but honestly, your 1yo is not going to care where you go, as long as you give him lots of attention and have a high level of enthusiasm of your own. My kids can't remember that first trip at all. So the memories and photos are more for the parents.

So I would recommend the adults in your group plan for what they want to do, and take the baby "along for the ride." Of course, YOU may want to have the baby do certain things for photo ops and ect. But, again, you will get more out of this trip than the baby. So I wouldn't tailor everything to him.

Re: 1 year old

Baby swap is where you get rid of your crying child for another person's child who seems more precious.

Seriously, most "adult" rides allow parents to do a "swap" without having to wait in line twice. Basically, you tell the CM at the que that you need to do a swap. Either the CM will give you 1 swap ticket (which you use like a FastPass), or you will both stand in line until it's time to get on the ride. Then one spouse will ride while the other waits with the baby. When that spouse is done riding, they take the baby while the other parent rides.

I like your first answer better.
