Do you show your ID or finger scan?

I found a thread about the finger scans from last July, but I am wondering how many of you that have been in the past 6 months have used the ID option, or if you have seen others using the ID option maybe you can tell me how smoothly it goes. I have read about people having to waste time trying to reset their scan and ticket, or even worse not finding out something happened to it until they cannot get a Fastpass.

My DH doesn't like the finger scan idea for a few reasons and I'm on the fence. What I am mostly unsure about is opening myself up to the glitches in the system and having to spend time fixing something I could have easily avoided. Has anyone here at DC had a problem with either the scan or showing your ID?

Thanks

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

No real problems, but the finger ID is really slow. WDW is slow, but Universal is even slower!! I can't understand why Disney the king of moving people and other parks can't come up with something faster.Universal was just doing one swipe per person while we were there last week and giving up on it because of the lines were backing up so much.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

I had a few problems last time with the finger scan. A couple of times it didn't recognize Danielles's fingers, and one time at the Studios, it actually took between 5 and 7 minutes for her to get in, after repeated attempts and than showing her ID.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

I have been using the finger scan the last two trips. It doesn't bother me. I could care less if Disney has my prints or whatever it is they check. I don't remember seeing anyone use the ID option, but I am sure there are some who prefer this. Whatever makes you feel comfortable is the right way to do it. As for it being slow: that only happens when a new person is doing it (guests) and hold up the line or someone who just has a hard time with getting their fingers the right way. Either way, I get ot the parks to early for this to matter.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

I've been using the finger scan for awhile and never had any problems. I think the machines are really finicky but you just have to squeeze that middle thing between your index and middle finges really hard. haha. Ever since I figured that out I haven't had a problem since.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

Just a sidenote, I believe what the thing measures is the length of your two fingers and not a print. I think that anyone who worries about Disney having propriatory information about them, worries for nothing.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

I will add this tidbit. Michele, my best friend in the whole world, thinks those finger scan things are completely bogus. haha. SO, after using our ticket for the second time we decided to switch our tickets and she entered with mine and I with hers at MGM. I SWORE to her it wouldn't work and guess what.....

it went right through.

If ingamba is right maybe Michele and I have the same length fingers? IDK but I was SHOCKED that it actually worked.

Interesting Wish. It seems too much of a coincidence that you and your friend have the exact same size fingers. Maybe the system doesn't scan or check finger length as thorougly as we assume it does.

I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about this, maybe even someone who is familiar with the workings of this obviously flawed entry system.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

I had a few problems getting through but nothing major. One time I just couldn't get it right but after a few adjustments with my finger placement it went through. Fortunately, there was an attendant at each turnstile to help with any problems.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

We used the finger scans almost flawlessly on our last trip. Once you figure out how far you need to push your fingers into the scanner, it goes pretty smoothly.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

We had a few problems, but being there for three weeks, they didn't cause to much trouble. DH had his card replaced once as it wouldn't even let him in the resort either. Usually they just lets us in after a few attempts.

There is a margin of error that is taken into account when measuring your fingers.

My friend and I did the same thing last summer, we changed tickets and our scans went right through with no problem. I can't belive we have the same size fingers.

I don't mind the scan, I don't feel like Disney has any info about me that I don't want out there.

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

The only time I had any problems was when I wasn't paying attention and being deliberate about putting my fingers in and getting the proper placement.

Oh, and then there's the whole "obsessively pull out the antibacterial cleanser" thing immediately after getting through the gate. I know I touch a zillion things all day that a zilliion other people have touched, but something about the finger thing brought out a compulsion to fight germs!

Re: Do you show your ID or finger scan?

I went with the crowd and did the finger scans. But I am under the impression that they are scanning your fingers for something other than what is assumed. We (Dh and I) feel that they are scanning your print against the known terrorist data bank. Like some you have mentioned you switched tickets and got in fine. I dont beleive in the odds that two sets of friends from DC have the same length of fingers.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
