Help Me Decide What to do on Arrival Day

I arrive in Orlando at 1230 in the afternoon on Saturday Jan 21. (yes, I'm single digit dancing). Using DME, I'm hoping to arrive at CSR by 200, but hopefully sooner.

I'm trying do decide what to do the remainder of that day. I know CSR is a big beautiful place, and I'm going to want to explore it. At the same time, I defintely want to hit one park that day or evening, as my passes start that day.

So should I explore CSR that afternoon, and than hit Epcot in the evening untill it closes at 9? Another option would be to go to MK at night, because there'll be EMH there and it closes at 11.

I'd like to hear some of your advice as to what you do on arrival day if you arrive sometime mid afternoon.

Dude, can you park hop? My guess is you will hit the park ad peak attendance, so I would go to the park the had EMH the day before. Then I would hit MK for the evening EMH and Fireworks! (I gotta see MK on my first day.)

Thanks Boss. Yeah, we have Park Hoppers, but since I won't even be getting to my resort till around 2, and we'll be travelling that day, I figured we'd just stay at one park for that day.

Then it's a fight you have (with the crowds). BUt really on your first day, would you really care? I wouldn't. So I vote for MK.

MK is a great park to start with. Even is it's a bit more crowded you won't mind you will just be happy to finally be at WDW.

I would personally expect to arrive at Coronado around 1:30ish,and take some time to explore their VERY COOL pool, arcade, gift shop, and other areas. If your room is ready around three I would get into the room and change then enjoy the evening at MK, especially with the EMH.

What are your dinner plans this first day, do you have an ADR anywhere? I personally LOVE the pepper market at Coronado, maybe a late lunch there before you head out to MK?

I vote MK--it's always great (IMO) to start a Disney trip there! I mean it's where it all started-right? And Happy Pin Trading while you are there!! Remember, trading in the early part of the day means you have a chance at some great CM pins!! Enjoy your single digit dance!

Thanks Doughnut. Yeah, I probably won't get into full blown pin trading mode untill the next day. But the following morning I'll be at Epcot at opening, and will be armed with lanyard and ready to do battle.

We arrive about 2 at POFQ this Saturday, and we plan on giving the resort an hour or two of exploration, then right to the MK(it's a tradition), so that's my suggestion for you.

I agree about MK, something about walking down Mainstreet and seeing the castle is the best wat to start a trip for me. Plus taking advantage of the EMH is a good idea.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is not an EMH on Jan 21st. MK EMHs are on Thursday mornings and Sunday evenings now. The MK will be closing at 9pm on the 21st.

Thanks for telling me Ginger. I should make sure to doublecheck all my EMH's that I have on my itinerary to see if they've changed or not.

I still may do the MK that night and leave when it closes at 9, because we'll be tired from travelling anyway.

I just checked my notes in my Passporter book and I did have that MK had EMH on Sunday not Saturday. I don't know why I said Saturday in the previous post.

I know you plan to do Epcot the next day, but I would go and do Future World of Epcot. By the time you get there, everyone will have moved on to the World Showcase and it'll probably be pretty empty (especially in January).
Then watch Illuminations, and call it a day.
