Viewing other WDW resorts

On our trip in February, we've decided to visit the various resorts on the day of arrival. Since we won't arrive and unpack until 4:00pm, it is a good opportunity to view the other themes since the next four days will be at the parks.

Which would be easier, visiting the resorts by car or using the WDW bus system?

Regards,:D

Where are you staying, and where would you like to visit?

We are staying at the Contemporary again.

Last February we visited the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Wilderness Lodge.

Maybe this time visit the Yacht and Beach Club, Coronoda, Caribbean and Boardwalk. View the various themes then maybe enjoy dinner somewhere around there (any suggestions?).

We are also considering making a short visit to Downtown Disney, but that might be stretching it a bit.

Thanks.:D

May I recommend visiting the Epcot resorts (Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach) while you are at Epcot one day of your visit. While you are in World Showcase, take a trip out the International Gateway...it is only a short walk...and you can visit these resorts with very little effort.

Or

If you want to visit Downtown Disney and the Epcot resorts on the day you arrive, it would be much easier (and quicker) to drive. The roads are all well marked and they have a huge parking lot for visitors.

Yes it is a short walk to the Boardwalk from EPCOTand it is wonderful. Also if you are a seafood lover the buffet dinner at the Cape May Cafe in Yacht and Beach Club is wonderful!:)

I think it's a good idea to use the car. It really makes it a lot easier to get around. If you haven't seen the Animal Kingdom Logde it's a great place to check out. You can spend the afternoon looking at the animals and the checking out the grounds, all which are amazing! Then go to Boma for dinner, the food is fantastic . Or if you want a nicer place to eat, go to Jiko. But I like the idea of the Epcot resorts. Make sure you stay for the fireworks. Have a great trip:)

I second using the car!

All Stars Movies is really cool, too. (check out Toy Story, the kids will love it!!)

I've heard so many rave revues on Cape May at the Beach Club, we are going to try on our next trip this May.

By the way...after checking out a couple resorts, you might want to head over to Fort Wilderness for dinner at the Trails End Buffet and seeing the petting farm (check out there hours, they may close early during your visit.) There is also a fun playground, and lots of peacocks to watch.

There is also a "FREE:D " campfire every night with Chip and Dale and disney movies. Also hayrides everynight (must make a reservation) but these might be fun for your first night there.

Then you can take a boat ride back to the Contemporary after the water parade!!

Have fun!

Make sure that you go to the Boardwalk at night! The nightime entertainment is great! ( Don't miss the Juggler! , he's our favorite! ) It is so much fun to hang out there at night , and if you wanted to have dinner there ..... "Big River" has incredible food!!!!

The campground is another favorite of ours to go visit. We enjoy the Petting Zoo and the Hayride . The hayride is at night , usually there are 2 a night or more ....... They have a campfire singalong there as well that is really nice , Chip and Dale come out and sing with you , and then you watch a movie on the Big Screen while roasting marshmellows!!! It's all really fun! The Hoop Dee Doo , and Mickey's Backyard BBQ are also two very entertaining ways to have dinner . Hoop Dee Doo is an incredible Dinner Show ( It is hilarious!!!! ) , and at Mickey's Backyard BBQ you get to sing and dance and see all your favorite characters !! I'm sure that whatever you choose will be wonderful! Make sure you make reservations if you are going to do either of the dinner shows at the campground ahead of time! Or yes you can eat at Trails End Buffet without reservations ...... Have a great time!

Just a word of caution. We also drive to WDW and have found it alot more strict since 9/11 to park at resorts that you are not staying at. So you may set out with the innocent intension of seeing a resort and be turned away at the guardhouse. Driving is the easiest way to see the resorts, but you may want to check with the front desk at your resort and see what their opinion is.

You can also walk to Boardwalk from EPCOT out the back way by France.

We had some "down time" during our most recent visit to WDW (last week) and we visited the Polynesian, Grand Floridian (both via monorail); Wilderness Lodge (via bus) and the Beach Club and Yacht Club (car). I was delighted to see that some of the holiday decorations were still visible. There were some huge wreaths hanging at the Clubs and there was a giant tree all lit up outside the Contemporary (we stayed here). I had never before been to the Lodge; it is beautiful. It reminded me of the Grand Californian in DisneyLand and it seemed to have a set-up similar to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. (I am adding it to my list of places to stay on a future visit:D )

By the way, we had no problem at all when we drove to the resorts. The pass that we were given when we checked into the Contemporary was visible thru our windshield and the guard at the kiosk saw it, raised the gate, and waved us through.

I recommend visiting some of the resorts while at WDW if you have time. Each one has unique features and it is fun to walk through the lobbies and common areas and take it all in.

The Hey Rides are not free. Nightly 7:00pm & 9:30pm $8 per adult, $4 per child. Its fun.

Pony rides at the petting zoo is only $3 and the parent leads the pony. Short ride but my kid loved it.

Carriage Rides are available too. 30 minute private ride for $30 seats up to six depending on which surrey is used. Hadn't done that one yet.

AWESOME! Is that $30 per person or per carriage?? We were thinking about doing a carriage ride at POR but this one sounds great too. :D
