Park Passes in Hand
I just received my six day Park Hopper Plus passes for our trip in February. Now I am a bit nervous about carrying them around!
Did I read somewhere that it is a good idea to sign the back of the passes just in case you lose them? Or is it really not necessary? We are sooooo excited!! POFQ and Disney here we come!!

I hadn't heard the signing the pass thing, but I do know that if you make photo copies and carry them separately, they can use the numbers on them to void the old ones out from your photocopy and issue you new ones. We also do this with our Annual Passes, which are paper and in this household, prone to being contorted into strange shapes by the washing machine. I *wish* they weren't paper.
I don't blame you for being excited - need a tour guide? :D :D

I have never had to deal with Park Hoppers but I would think that MickeyMac is right - the serial numbers are issued to you.
This past New Years, Disney sent us our passes to get into Pleasure Island and I left them home. They were able to look them up and issue replacements. :D That may not be the hard and fast rule, however, since we are annual passholders. Our Annual Passes have to be replaced often for embarrassing things like throwing it in the purse next to the cell phone which demagnatizes it. Luckily, the CMs are so nice, they just let us through the gates anyway when they see our passes are valid. :)

LOL - I didn't know cells demagnetize them! Thanks! (that's another DUH moment, mic! LOL!)
Not all passes can be replaced by looking up, as Fifi suggests... if you buy them from a third party vendor or have them from BC days (before computers), which is why the numbers on the back are so important. Cell phones... heheheee - I'm surprised I haven't done that one yet. Washing one, yes, but that was DS' fault.

We've always purchased our Park Hoppers at our local Disney Store and they were the plastic "credit card" type. We got free lanyards at our resort upon check in on our Sept trip. It was great because they have a plastic card carrying pocket attaced. We kept our hoppers & room key in them. They were always easy to find and no worries of damage. They may still be giving them out... just charge you room to AMEX and they're free for those who ask - 2 per room.
