Christmas Decorations

Hi everyone
Can anyone tell me when the Christmas decorations first start. We are trying to plan our dates and want to see Christmas at WDW but also want as "warm as possible" weather. We are also going on to Europe after WDW and want as long as possible there but still arrive back in Australia with enough time to get ready for Christmas. I know we dont want much do we.

I am pretty sure they start first week of November - just after Halloween comes down. And they start putting up the Osbourne Family Lights in MGM in October. Welcome to DC!!!!

Re: Christmas Decorations

Thanks for the welcome everyone. We are starting to think that a change of plans might be in order. Perhaps doing WDW last of all...like from 30 November and doing Europe before hand. We are thinking that we will need 8-12days in Orlando to really get the most out of it. Any thoughts or opinions?????

Re: Christmas Decorations

How long are you planning to spend in Europe (what are your plans overall?). I'd definitely agree with the 8-12 days in Orlando. If you're planning to really see it all, this would be your best bet. But I'd never want to cut Europe short either!

Re: Christmas Decorations

We are thinking about 31/2 weeks in Europe. The main priority there is to go to Santa's Village in Lapland and the Christmas markets in Germany. We had originally thought of Eurodisney but have been before and I have now got caught up in the idea of WDW.

Re: Christmas Decorations

Welcome to DC! You'll love it here.

I agree with your plan to do Orlando/WDW starting ~ Nov. 30. From my experience, beginning a couple days after Thanksgiving and right through the ~15th of December is the best time to visit WDW. The decorations for the holidays are out in full, and in operation. I think the Osborne Family Lights are turned on only a day or two before Thanksgiving, even though they've been hung earlier. At least that was the case when I was there for Thanksgiving 2004.

You may not have the warmest weather during this time. The evenings can even be cold. However, most days are sunny and at least in the 70's. Nothing wrong with that temp!

Re: Christmas Decorations

Usually right after Thanksgiving. Check the Disney World web site for schedule info. You can probably buy your tickets already too.

Re: Christmas Decorations

Ok...I have come up with a new thought. Its starting to get a bit difficult trying to get everything in before Christmas. Can anyone tell me when they take the decorations down after Christmas? I am starting to think we may be a little ambitious with what we were planning and that maybe we should be looking at two different trips all together.
