Animal Kingdom....Time of day...

When we go to WDW in June this year, we have a hectic schedule for our 6 night stay. We want to hit Magic Kindom twice. one full day, and one day after Chef Mickeys on my DS actual birthday.

I was wondering about Animal Kingdom. We've been twice. This time we really only want to hit these spots...

1. Tarzan Rocks (I dont remember timing of shows... i DO know you have to wait in line almost an hour!)

2. Possibley Lion King...(again, don't remember show times, usually do this first thing AM)

3. DinoLand (or boneyard..don't remember name) with the new rides?

4. Parade

5. Possibly character autographs. (Not a major concern if we don't get to do this here.)

NOW..the tricky part. I was hoping to only spend the late afternoon here (after Blizzard Beach.) Is this too much to do in too little time...especially in the first part of June? (What time does AK close?)

I want to spend one whole day at MGM and see Fantasmic.
I really need to spend a day in Epcot (Grandma's request).

The day we check in we were just going to swim and relax during the afternoon. Then we want to try Trails End Buffet and Chip and Dales Campfire.

Still trying to work all this out, I guess seeing it here in print it looks like a little too much to try...any opinions/suggestions would be helpful!!:) :D

AK always closes at 5PM. I think that the parade at AK is only once per day at 4PM.

Out of the attractions you mentioned, I think that you will only be able to utlilize the fast pass for one: Primeval Whirl, one of the new rides in Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama.

Since you mentioned that you will be there in early June, perhaps you'll beat the summer vacation crowds, although i am not sure about that. You may have to wait the longest time for the two shows. I think that Tarzan Rocks! seats a lot more people so it will be easier to get into that show even if there are large crowds.

We went to WDW the first week of June of 2002 for 7 days. We spent about 4 hours in Animal Kingdom until we got rained on at 1:30 (downpour!!) We did Kilamanjaro Safaris (30 min wait), we did some pin trading, some souvineer buying, then rode Kali River Rapids 2 times, and Dinosaur 2 times. Then we played in the DinoLand play area (boneyard, slides, etc.) and planned on going to Chester and Hesters new area, but the rain came in. We went back to Old Key West and changed from the rain, and ate lunch at the Port Orleans Food Court. Then we headed to EPCot where we had the parks to ourselves!! (The rain earlier in the day had scared everyone off, I guess!)

It was HOT! We were told MANY times that week that the hot season came early. Sound like it doesn't usually get that hot until July. (Of course we are from Texas, so we can stand a little heat!!)

The crowds were not as bad as I have seen before. Some of the rides in the Magic Kingdom had waits that surprised me of 90 minutes for Peter Pan at times. Most of the time, though, we didn't wait more than 20 minutes. I think you are going at the very early stages of summer vacation, so you won't be seeing the HUGE crowds like they do in late June, and July. We are going the last week of May since our schools get out on May 23rd this year!! I sure wish I'd have bought a season pass last year....could have had free admission this time....

If you are going the first weekend in June, the place will be mobbed. That weekend is when the Gay Pride weekend is and the parks are loaded. So take that into account. If not that weekend, then you should have the average crowd. I would try to stay away from MK on the weekend and focus on Epcot on Saturaday and MGM on Sunday. Then go to Blizzard Beach early Monday Morning then head to Aminal Kingdom Monday afternoon around noontime. I would go to AK in the morning then stop at Blizzard Beach on the way back around 2 PM and enjoy the swimming until around 6 PM then head back to the hotel to change then to Epcot for the Fireworks.
