Mission Space - Any regrets?!

I love thrill rides. But I am leery for Mission Space. Especially when I heard they give out barf bags prior to the ride!

Remember Body Wars at Epcot? I HATED this ride (sorry if you liked it). It was fun, but made me nauseous!

So, has anyone regretted going on M:S? Or were you leery about it and then glad you rode it?

Trying to decide in Michigan...

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

I love it.....it does have barf bags on the ride...I never had one given to me before the ride.....My sister, who had passed on riding it on trips before because she gets motion sickness on a boat, rode this past time and had no problems at all. Everyone is different though so go with what you feel. To me Space Mountain, Rockin Rollercoaster, and Tower of Terror are much more intense.

I do not think it is bad, but I am a thrill ride lover.
That being said I will not let my DD ride it becuase of the stress it puts on your body with the G forces.

Rode it and loved it. Our DS (7) thought it worthy of a trip back to Epcot on our last day just to ride it again.

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

I have never done rides before going to Disney. I am learning to love some of them but Mission Space is not one of them. I did it but I wont do it again. However I am one of very few, most everyone likes it.

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

My only regret is that I didn't get to ride M:S prior to it's official opening. My cousin rode it prior to it's official opening and said they have "tamed" it down alot since to keep people from getting sick. I think that "hyper sleep" is shorter in length (IMHO) since the first time I rode it. Joe

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

I've been on the ride 4 times, and enjoyed it only once. That one time, I had an empty stomach... so I'm going to try it once more on an empty stomach. If I don't enjoy it, it will be the first ride at WDW that I will cross off my list.

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

I'm sorry I went on it! I felt so sick when I got off of it. I had to lay down on the bench for about a half hour and still felt sick to my stomach for a few hours. But my husband was fine and wanted to ride it again, I passed!! I'm gald I rode it once, but once was enough for me!

I loved it! The good thing about this ride (IMO) is it gets better everytime you ride it. I went 5 times in less then 2 hours and the rush was awesome.

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

Regrets... I've had a few....

Okay, as far as Mission Space... I have a LOT!

I love roller coasters, love Star Tours, but have a problem with spinning.

I was kind of nervous about going on it, but I thought, "hey, I'm tough, it'll be no problem. Mind over matter."

Oh, no.

I got through it, but I certainly didn't feel right. It was pretty bad, but not enough to make me do much more than sit on a bench while DH got us FPs for Soarin' later. Apparently I didn't look all that great sitting there, because a passing CM did stop and ask if I was okay.

But Mission:Space alone was not the problem... because I figured, "yeah, I don't feel that great, but it'll pass, so of course the thing to do now is go on Test Track."

BIG mistake.

I really liked Test Track, and I'll do it again. But it ends with that LONG curve. Close enough to spinning. After Mission:Space, that was completely it for me. Had to go back to the hotel and lie down, which is nothing like I have ever done in my life. For me to actually LEAVE a park means that I REALLY wasn't doing well.

So... Mission:Space? Never again. Which is too bad, because I actually love the concept. Oh, well.

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

I get motion sickness. I did keep the barf bag in my lap just in case. I looked straight forward and kept my head still. I felt just a little "off" afterwards. It was just one of those things I was curious about and maybe I wanted to prove something to myself. I won't ever feel the need to go on it again though. I didn't really like it.

OK, you sold me. Sold me on NOT riding it! You thrill-ride tolerance sounds a lot like mine - I hate spinning too! And I think I'm somewhat tough. Mind over matter is my motto!

But I don't want to risk feeling poorly for the other rides! And I do NOT want to leave the park because M:S made me ill! So, not worth it I guess. Too much other stuff to do...

THANK YOU to all who gave their opinions and shared their experiences.

Re: Mission Space - Any regrets?!

No regrets here, I liked it. It did make me stomach a little tight and I had a slight headache but I would ride it again. I think the key is to listen to the instructions, once I put my head back and looked straight ahead I was o.k, before that I started to get dizzy. My DD who is 8 rode it back to back with me and DW and she was perfectly fine. Yep I'll be back on it this spring.

Pal, I am so with you!!

DH did MS first, and warned me not to try it, and he is all about rides! But I went ahead anyway. He and I agreed that it was nice to try it once, so we could atleast experience it, but neither of us will ever do it again. I'm not sure I would let me children on it, even when they are tall enough. I thought ToT was pretty tame, and RnR is pretty intense, but I could do that over and over again, not MS!!
