Park crowd levels

I'm planning my Sept. trip and checking websites for tips on park crowd levels and have run into one discrepancy between "trusted" websites.

On wdwig.com they claim that Disney Studios is busiest on Sun. and Wed. during regular park attendance. On touringplans.com they list Wednesday as the best day for Disney Studios.

Which one should I trust? It seems from reading the information on touringplans.com that they have a lot of data to back up their statements. However, I've always found the info on wdwig.com to be accurate.

Re: Park crowd levels

touring plans.com was pretty accurate for me dab. That being said, it wasn't the case for many other DCers. I would go with wdwig. Wednesday is usually my arrival day and also the day I head straight to the studios. I haven't ever had a issue with getting on anything and I usually don't get there until the afternoon. Head there on WEdnesday. You will be fine any day honestly. September is notoriously known for little or no crowds. It's going to be perfect. Get to the parks at rope drop and you will be able to tour the whole park by early afternoon.

If your going to be visiting after labor day weekend, it won't make a difference, Sept is the best month to be here, crowds are at the absolute miniumum. Weekends will be slightly busier but nothing to think twice about. I have seen it slow enough in sept they close the fast pass lines and machines becuase the regular lines are only 10 mins or less.

Re: Park crowd levels

I just went last week (it's peak season, right?) on Saturday....and the lines for rides early on were 'very' short. Splash, Thunder, Haunted Mansion, etc (before 1pm-ish) were all 20 minutes or less.

Re: Park crowd levels

Having gone in Sept. in years past, I would recommend it. Matter of fact, I'm going this Sept. Crowd levels aren't anyway near what they are in spring and summer.

Re: Park crowd levels

I too love Sept.!!! This will be our 3rd Sept. trip. When starting out planning I always start with deciding what days to visit each of the parks so that I can make my dining plans. I know Sept. is generally low attendance. However last year was my DD's school system's first year starting school August 1st. We have a week off in Sept. and a LOT of people from GA went to WDW. I personally knew 7 families there the week we were there. So, last Sept. was a bit more crowded than when we went Sept. 2003. That being said, checking out the two web sites I was trying to decide which day for DS and the two sites had conflicting information. I know there's no way to truly predict what the crowds will be that day. We just want to make good choices. Sometimes I think the internet allows me access to too much information!!! I'm a compulsive overplanner!

Re: Park crowd levels

You've now got me thinking about September... what is the rain situation then? And... dare I say it... what's the hurricane situation?

Re: Park crowd levels

You still get the afternoon storms but they aren't as often as July or August. Ah Hurricanes, well thats a hit or miss type deal. Disney is the safest place to be in the event of one. With that said the most active day of the hurricane season is Sept 12th. I have no clue how they come up with that day but someone alot smarter then me did it.

Re: Park crowd levels

I don't know how they came up with the exact date, but September is at the end of the middle of the season, when the most hurricanes occur.
July-August-- you should be ok. Last year, right after I left, Wilma came along.

We've always gone the 3rd wk in Sept. The low crowds are great!! We're usually a little nervous watching storms on the weather channel in the days leading up to a Sept. trip. We've been lucky but I think the later in Sept. the better off you are of missing the big storms. The rain has never been too bad for us. Sept. 2005 we only had to break out the ponchos twice in 9 days. One day was off and on all day and the other day was only for a quick shower. The nice thing about the rain is that the parks really clear out when it rains and most of the attractions are indoors. So, we just put on the ponchos and go for it! Sept. 2003 was the same weather wise. It is still pretty warm - high 80's to low 90's but if you're lucky you can get some cooler weather. Also, the cloudy days can make for cooler temps.
