How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

When we made plans and ADRs we just more or less picked parks to go to. Now looking at a touring plan (don't know which one) it seems I've picked almost the worst days to be at certain parks. It just my DH and I and we aren't thrill ride people so do you think we will have many problems? We only have ADRs for half the days, so we could change plans for the other days, but do you think it's worth it?

I think if you are not going to try and hit he thrill ride, you have nothing for which to worry. I think the Touring Plans are to help one avoid wiating in lines for the premire rides.

Re: How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

Well, when you enter a park, if the crowds go to the left, why not head to the right! This worked one morning when we were at MK for opening. Everyone went straight and left (I suppose to BTMRR and Splash Mtn), so we went right, and got on Buzz Lightyear 3 times in a row with no lines at all. Then right on Space Mtn, and then a 10 min wait on Indy Spedway. Got all that done in way less than 1 hour!

Re: How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

I know I beat the same drum, but let me hit it once more. If you get to the park at the rope drop and hit all the headliners, you will be able to do almost every popular ride before the crowds come. Hit the headliners first and then go back and do the not so popular ones. It doesn't matter which days you go to which parks. just avoid the mk on the weekends.

The saturday we are there we were planning to just hang out at the resort, maybe go to a park for a few hours. But I was hoping to hit MK sunday night (EMH). Since the grad nights are friday and saturday, I thought maybe the teens would be gone by late sunday. Bad plan?

And with APs its not like its costing alot!!! I've used my AP for 19days this year, plus another 14 day trip in July, thats 33 days on ap, about 12/day in Disney,!!!! What a bargain. We actually went to Epcot just for a lunch res and then left!!!!!!!

Re: How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

All I can say is, come Saturday afternoon, we're usually in a boat on Seven Seas Lagoon. We try to avoid Magic Kingdom at all costs on Saturday, unless we're going to see Wishes that night. I try to avoid all the parks during that afternoon, and find other stuff to occupy our time. Sometimes that's when we go shopping at DTD.

Re: How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

I stand by my theory that MK is best done at night, Dave and I went to MK for 14 hours last trip......and we got more done in the 5 hours after Dinner Wishes/Spectro than anything else the entire day...so MK at night (even an EMH night) can never be a bad thing...my hint though, wait until the VERY last hour of EMH to hit Fantasyland...the lines are no exixtant..oh, and, take your time!

Yes we are AP holder, but that was really for the 2 weeks 50th birthday trip in Dec. This trip was a bonus only because we had 250 on Southwest that we HAD to use. I doubt we'll be back again this, but 24 days on one AP I guess isn't bad.

Re: How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

Humm, we were thinking of getting to MK on a Saturday in June for rope drop, but then leave by noon, go back to resort for a rest/swim, then over to Epcot for dinner and Illuminations. Do you think that's too much? We'll be going back to MK 2 more times during the week, so we'll just do a few things each time. (Love that park hopping.) I figured it's EMH in the morning at AK that day so probaly many of the resort guests will head over there early in the morning. I think I think like Dana and use reverse psychology. Don't go where you think the majority of the crowds will be going. Does that make sense?

Re: How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

99% of the time we fly in on a Saturday and head striaght for MK. We have done this for years. It is crowded but not awful - unless it is the summer, I guess. We usually go on an "off" season - even though our off seasons have been getting pretty crowded lately! If you really want to go to MK on a Saturday just go - Fantasy Land seems to be the most crowded area anyway. Since it's just the two of you this time you should be fine.

Amen to this advice--words to the wise. Dana just summed up the 800 page UG in one paragraph!

Re: How valid do you think the crowd size guess is with touring plans

Thanks for all the help. We are all packed. Suitcases locked and ready to be loaded into the car. Taking a warm weather trip is easier to pack than our trip in Dec. Then we needed clothes for any and all temp. changes. This trip I'm pretty sure we won't need jackets, hats, and gloves.
