I know some people on hearing have been buzzing with this info, here is the story from WDWMagic:

The last few months have seen a lot of speculation regarding a new attraction, called Midway Mania, to be placed in the studio's soundstages. The huge soundstage buildings, including the Who Wants to be a Millionaire attraction, are speculated to become home to a new interactive dark ride, featuring a computer generated 3D environment, and moving vehicles, allowing riders to shoot at the environment. In short, the project is being pitched as a Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin - "The next generation".

Storylines for the attraction have been previously talked about as focused around Mickey's Milestones, but more recently, this has swung towards being based around Pixar characters, and in particular, the Toy Story characters. Each show scene would be hosted by a particular character from the Toy Story movies, complete with their own mission brief for the scene.

The time frame being talked about is to have the attraction up and running within the next 4 years.

Remember, at this time, this is speculation, and as always plans are subject to change.

They closed it in California Adventure here in the Disneyland Resort.

I was sorry to see it go. My heir apparent and I were up in the top ten at the end of the show. A lot.

But I suspect it COST a lot to produce. It seems WDW is going to close it too.

I never went to it, mainly because we have young kids. But beyond the Regis era, I felt it had lived past its prime.

DD and DH enjoy it, but DS and I would rather be doing something different. It takes too much time. I never really got into the show myself, so that probably explains why I don't care for it as much as others.

Since the article quoted sounds like the ride isn't even through the development stages, it looks like September will probably be alright.

I have never gone in that attraction and more than likely won't ever. It doesn't really appeal to me in the least. I would love to see this new 3-D attraction with the toy story character happen. I would have another ride to keep me in MGM longer.

I don't know about the whole Toy Story thing...doesn't it kinda have a 'been there, done that?' especially if this is just an improved Space Ranger Spin. If they're just going to improve on it, why not put it in MK to replace what it's improving upon? The idea of the ride sounds cool, but maybe another theme?

Since I can't stand Meredith Viera,I never felt that it was a priority to go into the Millionaire attraction. I won't be soory to see it go.

Yeah, I didn't see her there at all. DH and I did the WWtBaM attraction once and felt it quite boring honestly. If you weren't chosen right away from the starting question to be a contestant it was like "ok, where's the exit?"
