last week of august - first week of september

I am always planning and am starting to think about next year already..this trip didn't even happen yet..lol Anyhoo, I was glancing at the unofficial and they have the last few days of august at a 7 -8 crowd level. It was my understanding that the crowds more or less die then. Am I wrong on this? I was thinking about the 28th - 4th of september. Should I rethink this game plan?

Of course I don't have the answer, but I was kinda wondering the same thing for Disneyland. Is it the same for both?

Re: last week of august - first week of september

That use to be our favourite time to go - the crowds were really low, as most kids are back in school by that time. It might peak at bit over the Labour Day weekend, but not extensively. After Labour Day it's really quiet. We're going on the 9th this year and I'm counting on it being slow.

Re: last week of august - first week of september

Iam thinking it might be busy at that time, but then again what do I know? lol
I figure, alot of people whose kids start school the 1st or 2nd week of September will be there with 1 last trip of the summer.
And Iam always worried about the weather then too, Iam a nervous nelly about hurricanes.

Re: last week of august - first week of september

I think that should be a fairly quiet time, but because it is near Labor Day weekend, I bet it will be busier than normal, because that's a long weekend for schools...

Is there any way you can go the second week in September?

Re: last week of august - first week of september

We went the day after Labor Day in 2003 and 2004 and it was dead! We loved it. We went in May of 2005 and again in October (we wanted to stick to the fall, but a bit later)-May was pretty packed, but Oct wasn't too bad, but not at great as September the 2 previous years. We are going from Sep 30-Oct. 7 this year hoping for the crowds to be similar as last year at the same time. I don't know about BEFORE labor day, but I know that right after labor day the parks were dead and it was still really hot so it felt like a summer vacation. Loved it. I would do it again that time this year if I could, but we have to wait till the end of the month.

Re: last week of august - first week of september

My only thought is that the "Tom Joyner Family Reunion" is happening at CSR during Labor Day weekend. So there may be some extra people there for that. We went at that time a few years ago (even stayed at CSR, lol) and crowds weren't bad at all IMO.

British Kids go back usually around the 4th or 4th of September-English kids do anyhow- after the 5th we find it very quiet in comparison.

Re: last week of august - first week of september

We have been there in past years at this time, and we found it very crowded until aftter Labor Day, and then it got much better.

Re: last week of august - first week of september

I was there for Labor Day weekend one year and found it to be VERY quiet, compared to the rest of the summer.

I would think the last week of August would DEFINITELY be better than July or the first few weeks of August. Most kids are in school already...except for us Yankees, like you said Dana!!!!

Re: last week of august - first week of september

Hmm maybe. I am going to have to wait and hear some trip report from people this year to see what the crowd conditions are like. I am an early morning, verteran touring mousekteer, so I would know how to "commando" the parks and still see what I want with little or no waits...I have time yet. Thanks for the input all.
