Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
Our plane arrives in Orlando at 10:00 p.m. I want to make the most out of every minute. My kids are 22 and 19 so pleasure island is an option for sure. I would like to hear any other ideas for a late arrival. We are staying at POR!

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
If you arrive at 10 pm you won't get to your resort until at least 11 pm and then you will have to check in and find your room, maybe 15-20 minutes at that late hour. You could be on a bus on your way to PI by 11:30-12 am if all goes well, that will give you a couple of hours to have some fun. Jellyrolls is also fun but you have to be 21 to get in so that's out for your youngest.
I don't know when you are going but if it's in the summer you could check EMHs for a park that might be open late. EMH could be as late as 11-1 am if you are going during the summer. If it were me I would explore the resort and crash so I would be ready for our first full day but I understand your kids want to have some fun.

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
well PI is getting started at that time and you have till 2am so i will sugest PI and if you dont like PI you can still walk around the DTD area ,dont think most places will be open but you can check out the stores that you will whant to come back later.
If not like somebody else sayd go to the Boardwalk and spend some time there is beautiful at night. Or just go resort hoping, get into a bus and just go around the diferent resorts. Just an idea ![]()

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
Here's a few other things to consider. At the time you're arriving, dining options are dwindling fast, most, if not all places at PI stop serving food around 11. I'm guessing you'll have been traveling for 4 hours at this point. You will be hungry when you land, and given the hour you'll finally get into your room, I'd give you even money that one or more people will lay down for a minute and wake up 40 minutes later. Another thing to consider, your flight could be delayed, so you could be arriving at your hotel well after midnight. On our first trip to Disneyland, our flight was delayed something like 3 hours, so we finally got to our hotel close to 11, and we were dead.

We'll be flying out of KCI at 700pm so we are probably in the air about 2 and a half hours. The Boardwalk would be different as we have never done that before! What is there to do?

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
I think one of the best things to do when you first get there, especially if its late on is to explore the resort, When we first stayed at POR we got there pretty late so grabbed a pizza from the pizza window and jus took the whole awe of atmosphere in, POR is a great resort to explore and walk around.
The pools are open 24/7 as far as I know in POR so a late night swim, especially to relax after all the travelling is always fun. I loved it back in OCT swimming round the AKL Pool at midnight, especially when we where the only ones in there! |

I wouldn,t cram the boardwalk into that window. There is so much to see. Also, there is no easy way to get there from PO after 10 as the Epcot bus will stop running.. I'd go to the feature pool and relax. You actually will do more the next day with a good night sleep.

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
My vote is to stay a POR and explore there on your 1st night. It is such a beautiful resort d the walks suurounding it are truly stunning. Also, on ( I think) most nights there is great entertainment in the Piano Bar by BOB ( I think that's his name?) which is a must see for anyone. That guy never ceases to make me smile! We always take it easy on our 1st night and really soak up the atmosphere here ready to the start the following day with full force!

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
hey, i have the same problem...we arrive at the POFQ about 7.30-8pm ???(12/06/06) after 30+ hours since we left home- sydney australlia via LAX...but I dont just want to go to bed as our body clocks will be all out of wack, and our legs cramped from all the sitting....so what are your recommendations for myself & my 14 yr old son....is there anything close to or at POFQ to do at that time of night, and being in winter, so nice and warm??

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
Marky, I have to add my vote to the ones in favor of staying at the resort that night. POR is a gorgeous place to explore and the themed pool is great. As for PI, the easiest way to get there from your resort is to take the Downtown Disney boat and I don't know how long that runs. Also, Chastmastr and I have found that when we try to rush out to the parks or somewhere else after just arriving, we wind up cranky and tired and don't really enjoy it.
AustralianKaren, first of all, welcome to MouseBuzz!!! I think you're very brave to spend that many hours in the air (flying is not my favorite mode of transport). It's hard to say what time your internal time clock will be on by the time you reach Orlando. You could be exhausted or you might be so wired you can't sit still. In any case, the suggestions regarding Pleasure Island (though there will be a few clubs that your son will be too young to go into). At Downtown Disney WestSide though (right next to PI), there is DisneyQuest which is an interactive theme park that has virtual reality rides and other stuff. Teenagers in particular really seem to like it. Also there are a lot of shops to look at and browse through at DTD. Those seem like the best bets for both of you to enjoy. Hope this helps.

Re: Needing ideas on what to do when arriving late in the evening!
hey,
thanks for the quick reply. In regards to DTD westside, do we need to use a days ticket to get in, and how long to get their from POFQ?? Check in- does it take long? and what time does the food court @ POFQ close??....after airline/airport food we may need something nice. have a good one
