monorail question

this may seem like a silly question, but can anyone ride the monorail - or do you have to be a guest at a resort? can you just ride it, and not get off at a park, or is it a destination only kind of thing. I am thinking it might be fun to do this on our 1st night (we aren't going to a park that night)! Thanks!

Re: monorail question

Anyone can ride the monorail. You're right, it's a great first night activity. You can even get off at the resorts and look around a little if you have the time.

Don't forget to ask to ride up front with the pilot. Even if it's already spoken for ask to wait for thenext monorail, it will only take a couple of minutes for the next monorail to come. The ride from the TTC to Epcot is the longest and the best to ride up front.

We do it! We love it! The Monorail to Epcot is the longest ride, and it takes you around Epcot for a little tour. Too cute :c)

I hope you enjoy! There is nothing like a monorail ride to get ya in the mood for Disney!

Re: monorail question

Heck, my boys thought the monorail was a ride on our first visit to Disney. We spent a lot of time on the monorail. ALOT!!Ride away!! I agree with DisneyTeacher, the ride from the TTC to Epcot is the best. And it is even better if you do it at night!

Re: monorail question

Riding it the first night is a really good idea. We aren't going to the parks the first night either but we do have a dinner reservation at the Concourse Steakhouse so we will just have to check out the Monorail. Sounds like a great way to get all excited for the rest of the week. Not that I will need anymore help with that!!

Re: monorail question

Now that I've watched Illuminations all the way around the world, it's time to catch it from the monorail. You want to be on a train that leaves the TTC between 8:50 and 9:00 so you can watch it as you glide around Spaceship Earth. Illuminations is 12 minutes long and it starts at 9 sharp every night.

Do you have to have kids to ride in the front or will they let anyone?

Re: monorail question

Anyone can ride in the front. It is limited to 4 people at a time but you don't have to have children to be allowed in. If the front car is full ask to wait for the next one, it's not usually more than a 5 minute wait.

Re: monorail question

All anyone has to do is ask the station master at any monorail station. If there is nobody already waiting, you and your group of up to three other people can ride, as long as there aren't already passengers from another station who are continuing. In that case, you'll just wait for the next train.
