Park Hopper tickets?

This was a spur of the moment trip. I just got home from 2 weeks in Vegas and we going on a Cruise in Nov. So Dh is watching every penny i'm spending.

Personally, I didnt see the reason for the park hopper tickets. I thought since i'm going for 8 days i should beable to see everything.

We have the dining plan - and i really want to use it the most we can. I've noticed some parks have limited table service, so i'll have to go to a different park or to a hotel.

We are staying at French Quarters because that was the only hotel that had on opening with the free dining plan. I dont know if have the option of switching at this point (any cancellations).

We will be using Disney transportion. Does it take long to go one park to another park?

Do you think i should get park hopper tickets?
Or should i get the water park option?
I'm willing to get one but Dh will not let me do both.

Thanks!

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

Well...If you are going to try and dine in a different park than you start in, to take advantage of the dining plan, then you will need to have the park hopper option.

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

I like the freedom of being able to hop form one park to another if we decide that one park is too busy or we want to do EMH one morning and get out once it gets crowded. You can easily do WDW w/o park hoppers but you won't have as much freedom.

It won't always take this long but you need to plan about an hour to get from one park to another.

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

I would definitely get the park hopper option; it just gives you so much more flexibility, especially if you are using the dining plan. Disney Teacher was right on the money about time going from one park to another. the water park option is great if you are going to spend more than one day at the water parks, otherwise you can just buy the one-day admission when/if you go.

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

For all the above reasons, I'd go for the parkhoppers too. It just gives you so many options. If I had to choose between the two, I'd take parkhoppers over waterparks. POFQ has a great pool. Your kids will love it.

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

Can't imagine not having a park hopper. We are a spur of the moment type of family. We'll be at Epcot having a great time, when all of the sudden we HAVE to ride Space Mountain! Off we go to MK, ride that 20 times in a row, and then maybe hop on over back to Epcot for a meal. A lot less stress not having to abide by a schedule.

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

We've always purchased park hopper tickets but this time we have begun to think we shouldn't have. We had issues rushing from one park to the other for ADRs. The day we spent entirely at MK we had a great time, got on 13 rides (some virtually w/o lines because we timed it 'right') and got to see Wishes and Spectromagic. We had dinner at Liberty Tree and felt like we got to see ALOT of MK without the transit time.

Park hopping is great if you like to visit several parks in a day but if you'd like to stay and browse (and can get ADR's at the park you're at or at a hotel) then you might not want to pay the extra $$.

Gotta Hop. As bethishooked said "less stress not having to abide by a schedule" it is a vacation.

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

I'll be the dissenting vote. Kind of....

In four WDW trips, we have only park hopped on one of them. It was our latest trip, and we did it because of the meal plan (and our desire to eat several times at Epcot). We enjoyed PHing.

Park hopping is a nice option, but if you are trying to save every nickle, then it's an unneccessary option. As you said, 8 days will show you a whole lot of park.

Re: Park Hopper tickets?

I really like to go to MK, MGM, or AK then hop over to Epcot World Showcase for the evening. I always get park hoppers.
