Surprise Ideas

Ok, so I am heading to WDW with my aunt and her 2 kids (one of them is my godson) in a month and it will be my godson's first trip (he's 9) and my other cousin's 2nd trip (she's 13 now and was 6 the first time she went).

Anyway, I wanted to do something as a bit of a surprise for them while we are there to make things a little more special. I thought about a fireworks cruise but it seemed a little pricey and it's too late to book that now. Then I thought of the ice cream social at the garden grill, but I guess that no longer exists.

Sooooo, anyone have any ideas for a good surprise for a first timer?

Will you be there in September or August? Because if it is Sept. 15th or after you could take them to Mickey's not so Scary Halloween Party!

Re: Surprise Ideas

I say if it's their first trip, why do they need any extra surprises. I mean, EVERYTHING is going to be a suprise to them.

What about sending to the room? I ordered a cool gift basket for Nathan in May and he really liked it.

Re: Surprise Ideas

I'm going to surprise my DD with a trip to Bibbidiiboppidii Boutique. I'm just going to do the hairstyle, etc. but not the costumes. I think I read they now have something there for boys too.

Re: Surprise Ideas

Try to get a ride with the monorail pilot. The day I checked in with my mom at the GF, we headed to the MK. I saw no one was riding with him and asked. My mom didn't realize we could do this (got all nervous about me asking as only she can do) and had a great time. At the MK the pilot gave us 'co-pilot licenses'. That was something extra special for her. At the end of our trip, I asked what she like best...her top three were riding in the front of the monorail, seeing Tinkerbell fly at wishes, and Capt. Jack's tutorial. These were all 'free' things that turned out to be really magickal moments; so you don't need to spend alot to get a nice 'surprise.'

Re: Surprise Ideas

You could also do the Family Magic Tour at MK which is a lot of fun!!! You basically go on a scavanger hunt through the park with a CM looking for Capt. Hook's golden hook that Peter Pan snatched. Tons of laughs for all, especially if the adults get into it!!! I am not going to ruin the end for you but, there is a free ride usually of your choice with someone. It is about $25.00 a person. I think Allearsnet.com has info and some reviews on it.

Or what about the early monring safari in AK??

this really is an awesome thing!! but if you do this ..dont let the pilot forget to give you the co-pilot license.. sometimes they do.

in a way I have to agree with Cavey ..first time ..it is all one big surprise no matter how old you are.

Re: Surprise Ideas

If you go to MGM, get them to be part of the Backlot Tour show. That was way cool.

Re: Surprise Ideas

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone! I am definitely going to try and get them to ride in the front of the monorail - that is super fun! I will have to look into the Family Magic Tour, that could be a good surprise too!

Thanks again!

Re: Surprise Ideas

The Family Magic Tour was a blast for our family. It was 2 hours long and didn't cost much, maybe $30 per person. It lasted 2 hours and ended with a private character meet and a ride with the character (we ot to watch Mickey's PhilharMagic).
