MK Tour - Keys to the Kingdom

After hearing about this tour from some of my friends I decided to take this tour on our next visit to WDW. Has anyone taken this tour? Does anyone have any information to pass along?

Also, I am scheduled for a time before the park opens? I was told that I would not have any problem getting in. Does anyone know if there is any issues trying to get in before the park opens?

I'm sure you'll get a few responses to this one. I did way back when I was originally thinking about doing it. I decided not to do it because several people were vehement about it taking away the "magic." Imagine seeing the people IN the MM character suits. Seeing all the trash & smelling the smells (not nice ones) in the utilidoor (corridors under MK). They convinced me not to do it. I've since talked to a girl who used to work at WDW. She said she intentionally didn't work for the parks (she was a front desk clerk at a resort) 'cause she didn't want to lose the magic & agreed with the idea of NOT taking the tour for the same reason.

If, however, you decide to go through with it, if they gave you a confirmation number make sure you have it with you. They should have a list at one of the turnstiles in order to verify that you are scheduled for the tour & then they'll let you through.

Let us know what you decide.

We took the tour 2/2002 and absolutly loved it. Our DD can't wait to turn 16 to go again with us. Our guide was full of the Disney Magic and gave us even more. I won't say what we learn and saw, I'll leave all the special magic for your turn. Have a great time and become a part of the TEAM.

We did our tour at 10am and were asked for picture ID.

Well my girlfriend and I did this tour last summer('02) and it was outstanding! We learned so many interesting and magical stuff that made the Magic Kingdom so much more fun. It did not ruin the magic or fantasy at all, it only made it better. From the writings on the windows of Main Street to the secret stories of the Haunted Mansion was an incredible expierience. However, I believe it all was becasue of our tour guide. If you can somehow get on KYLE's tour, then you must. He was fantastic! I say this because my brother went two weeks later than me on the tour and said it was horrible and boring. And when I started asking him questions about it, he replied huh? We didn't see or learn that. So it just goes to show you, your guide will make the difference. Just call ahead and ask if there is still a KYLE doin any tours and if so go. And if not the choice is yours!
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I have to agree that the Keys tour is wonderful! I have taken it twice and loved each time. Each tour guide was different and both told me that this was a position to move up. Most of my over the top questions were answered and they even took me aside to answer some of the tougher ones. It did not take away the magic as much as opened my eyes to how hard it is to be a castie on hot days...

Just do it!

It does not destroy any of the Magic.

My DH and I took the tour November 2002 and we both thought it was well presented. It is not too long and you have lunch in the middle at the Harbour House. You do nave to have a park entry pass to get in.

As an alternative, the 7 1/2 tour for the Behind the Scenes is absolutely fantastic! I did this one a couple of years ago. You do not have to purchase a park pass, as you travel through several of the parks. The cost covers your entry. It was really cool this year when I rode the new ride in AK as I had seen it being built on the tour I had taken the previous year. It just makes it more magical and I feel like I am actually a part of Disney now, you know, kinda like an insider!

The utilidors are very interesting. Yes, there is a little reality shock, but what the heck, life is not always perfect. Very intresting to see how WDW gets everything done behind the scenes.

Take the tour and enjoy your new found knowledge.

:) :laugh :)

Thank for your responses. My wife and I are both the type to want to see how things work. I am really looking forwad to this tour, especially since some of you have given it your stamp of approval.

Thanks again and I will let you know how it turns out.
