Building the excitement ideas?

I am now officially under 2 months to go, and I can't stand it any longer. My friend just went to get away from home for mardi gras and they had a blast. Now I'm even more ancy. Does anyone have fun ideas of how to make the time go by faster? Does anyone do anything special beforehand? I've read the ideas on Deb Wills site but I wanted to know from some of you real afficianados (did I spell that right) right here at DC. By the way my DD and DS are as excited as me, but DH and my parents who are travelling with us are not on board the addicted to disney train with me and I really want to get them into the spirit.
Thanks a bunch
Angie

Some crazy things we do:

Friday night Disney movie nights - pop corn, drink a ton of cider, turn off the phone and turn up the TV really loud.

Wonderful World of Disney - makes it a second night of Disney movies, but what the heck... :D

Drag out the family movies. Laugh at all the right parts.

Pull out the Disney photos, and leave them around (I scrapbook, so I pull those out)

Print out maps and plan itineraries.

Birnbaum's Kids book, and make the kids make lists of stuff they HAVE to see.

Disney store, and buy up clearance pins.

construction paper chain, and on each chain, write a memory & number of days left.

Great suggestions, MM!

In an attempt to help my little boy understand 'how many days until we leave to see Mickey'....I hung a paper chain with a countdown of days. We made it a ritual. Everyday at the same time we took off one of the 'days'. The final day was a huge snowflake (hey, it was January), which we took off the day we left. It was fun to see the chain get shorter, and shorter, and  I miss that chain!

Other than that, we watched the vacation planning video everyday. Sometimes more than once a day, much more. I think that is the reason why my son was not afraid of the characters....he watched them all the time.

Have fun!:)

GO SHOPPING

All the new spring and summer stuff is out in stores now. I have 2 daughters , and we went out shopping for our Pool wear. We all got the color blue bathing suits, matching sunglasses. Then we were on the hunt for kid friendly fanny packs. We found some by fisher price the right size for the kids to wear with their own water bottle. Then off to the disney store for some PRE souviners.
Jammies, hair clips, and the Birnbaums kids book.

I had them make their own calanders to hang in their room . We made them on the computer with a Disney Print cd rom.

As for everyone else, adults included...maybe you can have a disney night were everyone can come watch the planning video. A well planned trip were everyone can pick a "must do" makes everything smoother.

This year we have 6 people in our party and we are making family shirts.(my hubby does not particpate in this he thinks he is too COOL haha) But I went to the local craft store bought light yellow tees and some fabric paint and we all are going to decorate our own family vacation shirts. Beside fun making they make it easier to spot them in a crowd. >>>>>>>>YES I am addicted to Disney

I"ve made a countdown poster for my son. He helped make this also. We started out at 110 days. I put a couple pictures of us from previous trips and it says, "countdown to Brandons 8th Bday trip to Disney World!!". He wanted to put it on our front door (inside), so everone that has come to our door sees it. He enjoys crossing off the days w/markers and stickers.

We also make a movie night once a week. Depending on his sports schedule, we usually try to do it on a Tues or a Wednesday. Then we watch Wonderful world of Disney on sundays.

We also look at the passporter and plan out our days. He has helped me plan our schedule for this trip, and he had some good ideas..haha:D

We have milestone celebrations....100 days out, 50 days out, one week out....this time around my friend and I are going to spend one (or two...or three) celebrations making No Way Joses and watching Disney movies (along with the planning DVD). Since we work together, we're also keeping a countdown calendar....179 more work days...seems like FOREVER and I just got back two weeks ago!:dazed

new Countdown Chain idea

My daughter came up with the coolest 'countdown chain' idea! Print out photos from past trips, slice them up (we have a paper cutter for even strips) and use those. when you untape a chain, put the photo puzzles together on a piece of poster board. when all the pictures are together, then it's time to go!

Anyway, just had to shre...

Hmmm... seem to be caps challenged today.

I have one for the last few weeks, which seem to be the longest for me. Plan a disney dinner for the last night before you go. Have the kids make disney placemats. Invite friends, if you want to make people really jeolous. Talk about your inteniary(sp). We went to our local paper warehouse and bought mickey decorations and plates and everthing. Our DD loved it. It kept her mind busy with working on the placemats and treats.

God Bless America,

Janelle
