Just got back- 3 questions

Hi!
We just got back from a short honeymoon to Disney! I have three questions to ask!

1. My new husband and I had our first "disagreement" as a married couple in MK. About how many people go through just MK a day in late March? He says around 30,000...I say higher...like around 50. WE also wonder what capacity for the park is... does anyone know?

2. Was it just my extremely tired imagination or is "it's a small world" pared down? For some reason it was REALLY empty feeling in there, when usually it's such a busy atmosephere, also, the air wasn't on as high. IT's usually a nice, cool ride. This time it was hot. Someone behind us thought maybe it was because it was late (around 7:30). We wondered if it was more Disney cutbacks?

3. Why is the mexican restaurant closed? I can never remember how to spell that name, but I think translated it means "A Pirate and A Parrot" or something like that...it was all Peco's Bills this time...

Thanks!!!
Btw, we stayed off site this time, and we will NEVER EVER do that again!!! Just because a hotel promises a bus to the park, doesn't mean you will actually get a SEAT on the bus! We had to stand and hold on for dear life! I can't believe that's legal! We are officially onsiters from now on!

Erin welcome to Disney Central and Congratulations!! I don't have any answers to your questions but I'm curious about the first question as well. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience off site. Now it's time to start planning your 1 yr. anniversary trip at a Disney resort !!

Congrats Erin on your wedding. Can't answer your questions either, but please give details on your trip.

Congratulations Erin, I too honeymooned at WDW 4 years ago and stayed off site. Let me say this we stayed at CBR last week and we had to stand a couple of times on the way back from parks. Of course CBR is a very large resort so it may not be that way for some of the other resorts.

I'm not really sure why the mexican restaurant was closed because we were there 2 weeks ago and it was open. We ate at Pecos Bills anyway because my DD doesn't like Mexican. I think it was closed for dinner and open for lunch while we were there.

Each park has a capacity of about 50,000 people. I have heard that during the last month, the Magic Kingdom has been operating at about half of that, so at any time, 25,000 people are in the park. Most likely though, the day you were there, there were close to 50,000 people who actually were in the park sometime during the day. On busy days, when the park reaches capacity, it is estimated that over 100,000 people will enter the park sometime during the day.

I don't think there have been any changes at all in It's a Small World, though I did notice several of the kids not working in December, which was unusual.

El Pirata Y el Perico is only open seasonally, so you just caught it on a day or week when it was closed.

Thanks so much for all your replies...I will give details in a later post! I have some good stories to tell. We are already planning another trip with the kids for sometime in either oct/nov/dec. Any suggestions on which time is best? We are looking for a slow time. I think early December because everything will be decorated for Christmas, it will be slower, and it will be cool out!
My DH thinks it will be much better to go in Oct. Maybe you guys can solve that disagreement, too!!

I have one more question! How did I become an 'intern' ? That is just too cool :c)

I noticed last time that the dolls on the Flying carpets were not operating as well and found that odd for Disney to just let go. If this is still the case, it must be a minor cut back to say a few bucks.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time if you can swing it. The decoarations are already up for Christmas and the parks and resorts look simply lovely! We went for Thanksgiving in 2001 and it was Fantasmic!:)

Erin,
Congratulations! I would have to vote for the early December trip for your next trip to WDW too! My family and I visited from the Saturday after Thanksgiving through December 5 last year and it was amazing. Seeing the parks all decked out for the holidays can't be beat. The crowds were reasonable though it was not as empty as some other times I have been there and it was definitely cooler weather wise. We had a really great time! You can't beat Disney at the holidays!

Trip Report

O.K. guys here goes:

First of all I would like to start by saying we were only there for one day. We both work (I'm a school secretary, and in college full time - and DH is a truck driver) so no time for a big vacation.
We got to the park by 9, but since we didn't stay onsite this time (we did last time - CSR - and now were spoiled) so we had to wait in line for tickets, so we didn't actually get in until ten.
We grabbed a fast pass for Buzz Lightyear and then rode the People Mover. (it was cute - I've never done the people mover before) We did our Buzz Lightyear (it's my favorite ride) DH won.
Then we grabbed the FP for Space Mountain. We walked around and looked at a few things and then rode SM. By that time it was lunch time so we went over to Frontier Land, grabbed a FP for Spl. Mount. and ate lunch at Peco's Bills (Since the pirate one was closed) DH's favorite is peco's so it worked out fine) We then went and did the Spl. Mountain and I prayed for the front seat - and we got it!!! We were soaked!!! We decided to go get a FP for BThM, and then someone gave us FP for haunted mansion. We did the Paddle boat, waited for the first time to expire on the BTM, and got another fast pass for Splash mountain. Then we rode all three consecutively. It was awesome. Then we did the train all the way around disney. We went to Fantasy Land and rode "it's a small world" We stopped and watched the Fire WOrks. We skipped the earlier parade because we saw it last year. WE did the Hall of Presidents somewhere in there, too. LOL. (DH's favorite) OH! In between the Haunted Mansion and our second trip on Splash mountain we got another FP for another trip on BTM so we could ride it again that night. (The ending time on the FP is just a suggestion - they let us ride it even though it expired) We went and did the Pirates of the Carribean, and then waited and rode BTM the second time, and then we sat down on a bench and talked and enjoyed the rest of the evening. We left around 8:30
It was great!

Sounds like you guys had a Magical Time! The last time we were there, July 2002, we waited for the Spectromagic parade to start and then we hit HM, SM and BTM one right after the other and still got to see some of theparade. There were no lines and it was GREAT!

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. We also honeymooned at WDW in 1996. We were there in September. It was great.

I would pick December for your next trip. I hear the Christmas decorations are wonderful.

:heart :)

Welcome to DC Erin! Glad you had a great honeymoon! To answer your question about the intern: there are many "levels", each reflecting on the number of posts. You start out as a newbie, then an intern, then a Mouseketeer, then at 100 a senior mouseketeer, then at the big 500 the Big Cheese! Which is a very small number of members, but growing all the time! I would also recommend early december for the next vacation, the decorations are BEAUTIFUL in the parks and resorts. There's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which is alot of fun for the kids. And last but not least, the first 2 weeks of december are considered one of the least crowded times of the year! Congradulations for tieing the knot too!:D
Joe:)
