boardwalk ?

I keep hearing all these wonderful things about the boardwalk. Can you go to the boardwalk at anytime? Are there entertainers there all the time? Please fill me in and places to eat here.

Re: boardwalk ?

Boardwalk is a great place to be. They have entertainment on / off during the early evening. Shows last 10 - 20 minutes. All different types of things i.e. jugglers, brass band. They have a few arcade type things that are open later in the evening. Places to eat are great. Spoodles (not my favorite), Flying Fish Café (very good), Big River brewery (also very good). Night life also includes Jelly Rolls (my favorite .. dueling pianos (cover charge)), ESPN Zone, Atlantic Dance Club. Other places to eat are the Y&B (easy walk around the lake (or take a boat over (as long as the parks are open).

Re: boardwalk ?

Timsha is right: the entertainment is on and off. But there's always something fun to see when you go. Even if it's just the water and the family bicycle surreys. It's defintely worth a trip.

Re: boardwalk ?

A good time to go is just before EPCOT closes. From the Boardwalk you will get an awesome free view of EPCOT's fireworks, then make a bee-line for one of the restaurants which won't be too crowded at that particular time because everybody is still inside EPCOT. 10 minutes after the fireworks end, Boardwalk is amass with people and you will see long lines at places like ESPN. Crowds means fun though and this is when the entertainers appear en mass.

If you would rather eat earlier, then I suggest going to the Yachtsmans Steak House in the Yacht & Beach Club. Book for about 2 hours before the EPCOT fireworks. Enjoy one of the best steaks in WDW, stroll around the Boardwalk to walk off your full tummy, and then end up with a great view of the EPCOT fireworks. Then a final stroll around to watch the entertainers.

If you are doing the Boardwalk on the same day as you are in EPCOT, make sure you watch the fireworks from near the International Gateway exit (between France and UK) and then, as long as you move fairly quick, you will be one of the first to exit the park and get to the Boardwalk.

Re: boardwalk ?

On our last trip, we wound up at BW about 3-4 times. It is just so relaxing and fun. The entertainers are great, the surrey bike ride is fun (although the bridge between YC/BC and the gateway to the Dolphin/Swan) is a killer. ESPN club has good food, along with a special sports guest if you time it right. Beaches N Cream at BC has awesome sundaes and the sweetshop also has ice cream too.

I would definitely try to make a trip to BW if you can for a night. Even if it is just to sit, relax and people watch. It is well worth it.

Re: boardwalk ?

Not sure if I need to start a new thread, but never been to Boardwalk, and reading all the things going on there, and the mass amount of people, I wonder if you can hear all this at the resort. Does the "electricity" of the actual Boardwalk flow into the resort?

Re: boardwalk ?

I have heard great things about the Boardwalk too....in particular Spoodles ( i hope I said that quietly or did Cavey hear? - once he hears that word it all goes horribly wrong! ) and also Beaches and Cream.
remind me...how do you get there? Is it a bus ride or within walking distance from a particular park?

Not sure if you're asking how to get to the Boardwalk or to Beaches and Cream.

The Boardwalk is between Epcot and MGM, in the Epcot resort area. You can take one of the boat launches from MGM or Epcot and it will take you directly to the Boardwalk. You can also walk from MGM or EPcot.

Beaches and Cream is in the Beach Club resort, which is in the same area, across the water from the Boardwalk.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "electricity" - I definitely haven't seen anyone getting electrocuted in the Resort. Boardwalk is a beautiful resort - but I wouldn't put it in the "ultra-happening" category. Because all the entertainment is ON the Boardwalk, the resort itself doesn't house any. Just a small gift shop. And the longest hallways known to man.

Re: boardwalk ?

We just got to stay at the Boardwalk this past August for 9 days so we really were able to soak up the atmosphere. I am in agreement with everyone on the evening part. During the daytime hours it is pretty UNeventful and quiet. The best times to visit in my opinion were between dusk and 10pm. This way Jellyolls & Atlantic Dance are open, there are random street performances, all the stores will still be open, and you can even watch the EPCOT fireworks.

Have fun!!!
