Best Parks for Small Children

In May, my husband, mother, son and very young sister will be returning to Disney. This past summer, we went to Disney. We only had time for two parks (one of them non-Disney). We chose Magic Kingdom for the children. This spring, we plan on going for a 5-day, 4-night trip and will fit in 3 parks. We've chosen Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and ????? I need suggestions on the best park for small children - between Epcot Center and MGM Studios. We're not interested in the water parks at this time. I suggested to my husband that we just try MGM Studios because it looks as if it will be fun for us two.

I would have to say Epcot too,

But have you considered Park Hopper tickets????? It would give you a chance to see all the parks....so worth it!

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

When I joined this site before my last trip to Disney, I inquired about the Park Hopper tickets. And, most everyone didn't think it was a good idea with a barely 3-year old (he'll still be 3 this go round) and an off-site hotel (again). And, based on my experience this past summer, I don't think we could handle it. Having gotten to MK at 8 am, by about 1 pm we were ready to call it a day. If we were planning on staying in a Disney property, Park Hopper passes would be an option.

But, thanks for the Epcot suggestion. 2-for-2, so far.

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

Our kids LOVED Epcot! And we barely made it out of Future World, lol. They are 3 1/2 and 5 and had a wonderful time riding, exploring and learning. They were just talking about it tonight before bed, actually (the fiber optics in the sidewalk, lol). My DH and I really had a great time there too.

We actually never set foot in MGM--we planned to, but gave it up for another day at MK. I was actually on the fence about MGM before I left and started a thread about it. I got some great advise about MGM and was looking forward to going, but DH who is not a parade and show kinda guy wasn't pushed on going--even with ToT and RnRC, so we opted out and will get there when the kids are older on our next trip, I think. I'll go try to find that thread for you It had lots of good info and depending on what your family is looking for, it may be a better choice for you.

EDIT: Here it is! http://www.mousebuzz.com/forum/wdw-t...ted-about.html

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

I'd say EPCOT too...my kids loved it when they were small...still do! My kids were 2 and 5 when we started taking them there. My son's favorite thing when he was little was "Spaceship Earth", which he called "The Big Ball" We must have ridden it 1000 times over the years because he always wanted to, and he still insists it's a "must-do" now that he's 12. Both kids also adored "The Living Seas", and we've always spent a lot of time in there. When my daughter was about 6, her curls were very springy, and the triggerfish would always come to the big aquarium window she was standing in and follow her curls around as she moved. It was so funny! There are lots of other things for little kids to do at EPCOT as well, and the sights and sounds there are always appealing to them, I think.

Although Epcot is my FAVOURITE park - I'd go with MGM. Tons for children - starting with the Disney Playhouse, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast Show, Muppets Theatre....plus the great thrill rides for you guys - Tower of Terror and Rock 'n Roller Coaster. Plus, MGM is smaller - and very manageable. You can definitely see it all in one day.

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

this is tough to say because i love epcot..... but in the eyes of a small child i'd have to say go w/ AK, MK, and MGM. children love the animals and there's the wildlife express train that takes you to conservation station which has the petting zoo at AK (dinoland is great too). MK, that's just a no-brainer. and, i agree w/ llama about mgm having voyage of the little mermaid and bear in the big blue house etc etc. yeah, those are the 3 that i'd stick with

Llama makes a really really strong argument for MGM. I'd have to say Epcot though. There is so much for them to do, see and interact with that will keep them busy all day.

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

I have two year old who likes to go to MGM because of Playhouse Disney. She does not get to into Epcot. So my vote would be MGM! Have a great time!!!

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

Hi there,
I would have to vote for MGM also as our DD 3 1/2 loves the Playhouse Disney area and the 2 shows ' The Voyage of the Little Mermaid' and 'Beauty and the Beast'. There is also the MUppets 3D and the awesome Fantasmic fireworks....not forgetting the 'Stars and Cars' daytime Parade.

Personally I love both Parks but for Kids I have to say I persoanlly think that MGM offers a great deal more.

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

A friend just told me how cool the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" area is.

5 for Epcot. And, 5 for MGM!

Re: Best Parks for Small Children

I believe in park hopping, but if that's not an option, there's probably more to do at Epcot.
