Packing Questions...

OK, so I leave in 6+ days and I haven't started packing yet! Dana, DON'T kill me! I just can't bring myself to start...I have no clue WHY!!! Could it be the TON of laundry I've been doing all day today?

Anyway, question...according to Accuweather, it will be in the upper 60s as the HIGH for the first few days of our trip (lows in the 40s!). Since I quickly forgot how WARM 70 is, will I need short sleeves in 70 degrees, or will THIN long sleeved shirts be OK? I will bring a jean jacket for nightime...

Should I pack a couple of pairs of shorts for the kids JUST IN CASE? Packing for this time of year can be hard!

I just want to make sure I'm going to start packing the right stuff.

Re: Packing Questions...

I'm thinking you can get away with leaving the shorts at home.

I'm thinking I can get away with thin long sleeves, but I'm cold all the time. I know that DH & DS5 will be perfectly find in t-shirts. We'll probably start the day off with sweatshirts & such, and end the day with jackets.

Since I have the advantage of driving, I am packing EVERY JACKET I OWN for nighttime, so I can decide when I'm there which weight I'm going to need. For me, a jean jacket at night wouldn't be enough. And I'm also packing gloves for everyone!

Good luck! While I've gotten all sorts of other things all ready to be packed up (my method is to start very early with a pile in the corner of "things to take to Disney"), the clothes won't go in until the day before we leave. Which means I can put off doing all the laundry for at least three more days.

Every day I send my parents the Accuweather forecast. It changes from day to day so much that I can only assume that at this point, they're just messing with me.

Re: Packing Questions...

i would say to forget about the shorts.

light weight pants & jeans. short sleeves under a jacket or sweat shirt is good or lightweight longsleeve t-shirt. for nighttime, fleece hoody or jean jacket ought to be enough.

if you are one to be more cold...maybe go with a long sleeve t-shirt in a dark color. it will absorb the sunlight and really will help to keep you warmer...in some cases it will make you HOT!! lol by 1pm you will be pretty comfy without your jacket. :)

have fun!!

Re: Packing Questions...

Kim,
Keep in mind how unpredictable Florida weather is this time of year. A couple days ago it was in the upper 30's/lower 40's in Orlando. Today it's in the 60's/70's.

I'd bring long sleeve tees and jackets, but you might want a couple shorts just in case we have an unusually warm week. You just never know here.

I just realized that my response was less than helpful! Sorry!

Have fun tho!!!

Re: Packing Questions...

Dress in layers. Put a long-sleeve shirt over a t-shirt. You can always tie the long shirt around your waste.

Re: Packing Questions...

I would pack a couple pair of shorts, just in case. Better to be over packed then under packed

Re: Packing Questions...

Kim, I don't even think I can conceive of packing a week in advance. While I love the idea, I'm just not sure how practical it is for me. I'll probably start on Tuesday and finish at bedtime thursday.

You're flying JetBlue/JFK right? What time is your flight and when do you plan on getting there?

PS-sending you a PM now too!

Re: Packing Questions...

I would bring a t-shirt and take the light coat out in the mornings and have it for the evenings...you may find the afternoons a little on the warm side. 70 degrees is warm enough for a t-shirt....heck I'd have shorts on..lol You get packing missy.

I don't have any capris that fit me right now...I was all about LONG skirts in teh summer (I still haven't lost 30 pounds of baby weight! ) So I might bring one of those and some flip flops.

And I ALWAYS pack last minute!!!!
