The days before Christmas.

Well, we pushed the button so to speak. Our plans have been made for PC for Wed., Dec 20 - Sun., Dec 24. We will arrive late that Wed nite and fly out early on the morning of the 24th. Each of us still have 3 days left on our tix from last year, so that's covered. The price of the flight went down by $141, so that was a good deal. I'm one for renting a car and the cheapest we could get was $191 with an Entertainment Book coupon.

Here's what the one of the touring sites listed for attendance and best/worst parks for our stay.

Thu, 21 Dec '06
Crowd Level - 4
Best Park(s) - EP AK
Avoid Park(s) - MK

Fri, 22 Dec '06
Crowd Level - 4
Best Park(s) - AK
Avoid Park(s) - MK EP DS

Sat, 23 Dec '06
Crowd Level - 6
Best Park(s) - MK EP
Avoid Park(s) - DS AK

I wonder how often this site info is upated and how truly accurate it is?
Shouldn't we avoid MK on a Sat?

I was thinking of the following:
Thur - DS
Fri - MK
Sat - AK/EP

Comments/Suggestions?

What a great trip!!!!

I am assuming you don't have plans to go to MVMCP. For me looking at your plan, the only thing to consider about going to MK on Friday is that the park will close at 7p for MVMCP ~ you'll still get Wishes at 6pm before you leave, but no Spectromagic this night (I have no idea if that is a big deal for you or not ). If you switch your plan and go to MK on Saturday, you'll get to see Spectromagic and the park is open until 11pm so you'll have 4 hours more in the park. Also, Friday is an evening EMH at EPCOT, so if you split that day with AK, you'll have some more time to see EPCOT. True that EPCOT may be more crowded because of the EMH, but the projected number is only a 4 and you'll have more time to tour. I'd just make sure to have an ADR for dinner if the plan is to dine at EPCOT

Re: The days before Christmas.

Actually BEFORE Christmas isn't as bad as you might think...we had a wonderful and enjoyable trip one Christmas..we went on the 17th thru the 23rd...the first few days were slow but the last day was getting a little crowded..and then when we were leaving on the 23rd we walked through the POP lobby and BAM...there they were! GABILLIONS of travellers all checking in....the line almost extended out the door at 11 a.m!

Your last few days may be a little crowded, but dont worry..you're leaving before it gets insane!

Ya, we probably won't go to MVMCP. It's just not in the budget.

But something is still telling me to stay away from MK on Sat, Dec 23rd.

I understand all about sticking to a budget!

If you are thinking to skip the 23rd, I think you should listen to yourself! Your plans look great--go with what you have and be sure to give us a trip report when you get back

Thank you. I think I will stick with that plan unless someone can give me a good reason not to.

Thursday - DS
Friday - MK
Saturday - AK/EP

Re: The days before Christmas.

As a general rule of thumb, stay away from the MK on any day that high attendance is expected: go to Epcot instead that day. They are much larger and even with crowds, they're spread out further.

Re: The days before Christmas.

December at WDW is always a great time to go because of all of the Christmas decorations. We have been there in early December on several occasions but never just a few days before Christmas like you are planning. However, one time we were there between Christmas Day and New Years Day....NEVER AGAIN!!! As much as we love WDW, it was a bit overwhelming to have MK reach maximum capacity by 10:00 a.m. everyday. With crowds like we saw between Christmas and New Years, many people seem to have forget that they were at the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!!! The suggestion to go to the larger parks on the busier days is a good idea. Enjoy your trip and let us know how it goes.
