Crowds & "The War"

I'm curious how the crowds have been since the start of "the war"? Have people really stopped going or is it the same as usual for this time of year?

buzzsmommy,

We were there from 3/22 to 3/29. I'd call the crowds 'typical' for Spring Break. In other words, busy. Worse, Disney had not forecasted correctly for the week or the week previous and weren't prepared. I think WDW *thought* people would cancel...

However - I think it was Jsykora that reported in her trip report for the following week that attendence was light.

Prepare for typical crowds, and then you can only be pleasantly surprised. :)

I've been curious, too. We are going on Memorial Day Weekend and not only are most hotels available, the rates are very low. I hope that means light crowds! :)

I can't help but think this translates to "I don't know" :p

I will let everyone know how it is when I go in May. Star Wars weekends will be going on as well a MGM so it will be interesting to see how many that draws in also.

I'll be there in three weeks from today. I think the crowds will be lower than normal but not too much lower. I will let you all know what the crowd levels are as well.

MARCH 31

Hey all...

On March 31st, we ventured over to MK to check for a certain pin in one of the shops. We hopped a bus to the ticket and transpo centre from the Wilderness Lodge thinking that it was a little too chilly to take the boat and when we got there the lines for the ferry and the monorail were HUGE! There were SO many people! And the people in line to buy tickets was quite large as well. Anyway, luckily we knew that the resort monorail also stops at MK and there was no line whatsoever for that. We hopped right on and left all those poor non-savvy folks in line for what looked to be about 45 minute waits for the MK Monorail and the Ferry.

Thanks for the responses guys. I really am courisous, not just for my upcoming trip, but in general if people are staying away. Everyone I've spoke with is either still going (if already planned) or would still go (if they were so lucky!). No one seems to be staying away like predicted.

Yes, for the week of 3/29 through 4/4 the crowds were light. When we went to Epcot on 4/1, there were 5 cars in the parking lot at 9:30AM. We didn't walk right in to any ride but we never waited more than 40 minutes for any ride. Most ride waits were 20 minutes or less.

Keep in mind that the weather for the first three days was cold, 50s and 60s. We were also told that this was the slow week for spring break attendence. They are expecting stampedes for Easter weekend.

Judging by the upbeat markets whenever war news is good, I would think as soon as all this is over crowds will be back to "normal." Now the question is - will that be sooner or later?

We were there 3/30-4/3. Except for MK on 4/2 the crowds were light. Even at MK we never waited more than 30 minutes for rides without Fast Pass.

Surprisingly, the war hasn't had much of an effect on crowds at WDW. Attendance at all three Orlando theme parks -- Disney, Universal Orlando and Sea World -- has been steady. On the downside, hotel and airline bookings have shown a decline.
