We were trying to plan a weekend trip for the MGM Star Wars Days. All the info we could get was that is starts mid May til Mid June. So with that in mind we headed for the calendar. My parents want to go with us so we had to try and arrange a time that was good for us as well as them. May 18th was the original date, but my mother (who is a teacher) has a school trip that day to disney and is not allowed to stray from the class (obviously) or not come home with the class. So that weekend was out. And we really did not want to go into June...so May 25th weekend in the next choice. It is Memorial Day Weekend and although it says on the websites around it is crowded I wanted to know from past Memorial Day weekenders how it really is. We are thinking of driving up friday morning and staying until early afternoon on Monday, the 28th. I also was not looking forward to that time of the year because of the heat but we will deal with it.

I went ahead and booked two rooms at POR for the weekend with AAA discount. Now I sit and wait for the passholder rates to come out so I can modify to a lower rate. We considered the Polynesian but it was $346 per night, plus tax, plus an additional $50 per night to have my parents stay with us in the room. So that is $446 plus tax per night. More then I wanted to spend. Even with our reward points we would have to pay alot more out of pocket then we planned. So we will probably hold on to our reward points awhile longer until we have more saved so we could stay at the deluxe resort for 3 nights and pay nothing out of pocket. We will just pay for the POR stay rather then use our reward points for that.

So...Memorial Day Weekend...crowd levels??? Also, bldg 14 and 18 at POR-Alligator Bayou...good choice???
