Question on when to buy park tickets

Should I buy my park tickets now or keep shopping around until closer to my trip in September. The best prices now between MapleLeaf, AAA and Disney seem to be Disney. Is it possible to get a better deal for a 7 day park hopper with water if I wait?

I noticed prices went up last year in August. Is that pretty standard or do they go up whenever?

There's generally a rate increase every year.

As to your first question, the savings are pretty limited versus other Orlando theme parks. The most expensive purchase is directly at the gate. Unless you are doing a full package, you won't get any sale offers from WDW. So I would either get them directly from Disney on-line or buy 'em at your local WDW store.

Do NOT buy them off of ebay or any kind of resale place.

VERY IMPORTANT TIP: When you get your tickets, photo copy them and keep the ticket number in a location seperate from you tickets. It's not uncommon to hear from people who lost their tickets and were mad that WDW didn't take their word and just give them new tickets.

A couple of years ago, we left DS' ticket in a FP machine. We didn't discover our loss until entering MK the next morning. Because we had the photo copy, we were able to go to Guest Services and get a new ticket issued for him (with 3 days left!).

Good advice Cavey. I don't know that I have ever heard of any way to save a lot on park passes but every dollar helps. We buy our passes from Disnay before we leave home and pick them up at will call when we arrive. Other people here have had great luck with MapleLeaf.

).

As soon as you know what you need, go ahead and buy it. The price will most likely go up. Chances of finding a discount are slim to none.

Just to add a thought to Cavey suggestion. When we got our AP passes at the parks, we didn't have access to a copier, so we just took pictures of them with our digitel (sp?) camera. If we had lost the APs, we would still have the numbers. (as long as we didn't lost the camera.LOL)

Very, very true. I would buy now through one of the three sources you mentioned but if Disney is the cheapest go with this and have them shipped to your home.

Thanks for your help! I'm going to wait for undercover tourist to come out on the 15th and then head over to the Disney Store if UT is no better! And then I will find a copier and copy those things!

I have never heard of undercover tourist. What is this? A magazine/ newsletter????

Honestly I'm not sure myself but I subscribe to the mousesavers.com newsletter. On the mousesavers website it advertises that the Undercover Tourist can offer special ticket prices to the newsletter subscribers. The newsletter comes out on the 15th of the month. I never received one yet as I just got on the mailing list so I haven't gotten to see what they offer. Since it is already the 10th I thought I would wait to see what it is about.
