regrets anyone?
a few of you already know that my DH has been sick since july of last year .. and just recently he was told without doubt he has MS .. we are going to be poor *grin* from now on .. because he wont be able to return to work ..so we prolly will only be going to WDW one last time ..unless of course we win the lottery
any way we have started to plan our big trip which will be sometme in 2004 :) in talking about it and planning it we know there are going to be some rides he will never be able to do again ..but what has really made him regretful is the rides he never did .. for example RRC and TOT he kept saying he would some day .. now he will prolly never will be able to .. I just wondered how many others have said *someday* ..

In My Prayers
Gee, I am sorry to hear of your husband's health problem. He (and his health) will be in my prayers. I didn't think much of ToT, just high speed up and down. There is nothing IMHO to the rest of the ride. I haven't been on RRC and I have no desire to. My kids went on it and became sick. Becoming sick is not the type of thing I would enjoy doing on vacation-especially on vacation when I am shelling out all that money!
But I know what you mean, I have yet to go on the Indy Speedway cars, everytime I walked by, the line was an hour long. I know it is essentially a kiddie ride, but I wanted to take the kids on it. Now they are in college and I was never able to take them. The best substitute was TTA. But I was glad that I did spend the time with them. Time together is the important thing! I tease my son Tom that he is being paged, that his party from Saturn has arrived, please give them a ring. My son, daughter and wife smile when I do that. Our time together on TTA turns out to be priceless! You and your DH may find a similar ride. |

for years ..since our granddaughters were just babies ( they are now 11 and in may the other will be 14 OMG) we have called the TTA *the grandpa peoplemover* because its DH's favorite thing besides COP in tomorrowland. So I do understand your special moments on the TTA .. very very much do I understand them .. I laughed about your telling your son he is being pages ..if you noticed in my signature "please take small children by the head" .. we started that with the girls when they were babies ..and we would be going on to SSE .. they say "Please take small children by the hand" .. well we told the girls they were saying "please take small children by the head" and thats still an ongoing family joke .. at home and at WDW :) I personally am a huge fan of RRC and TOT ..of course it took me a couple of years before I would open my eyes on the TOT .. and in all the pictures I am screaming :laugh

Hi there Tinkerbell,
I am really sorry for you guys!! Try to keep smiling!:D To be honest, I would probably try to do everything possible. If you can go for as long as you can afford and also your DH can tolerate. If this is your last chance, lets hope not, then do it up right! That's what I would try to do. Keep up your spirits! Janelle

I think I kinda messed up on this thread ..what I wanted to say was what quartz7 said "do it all" so that you dont have regrets .. at least once .. and btw quartz7 thanks .. thats my way of thinking .. two weeks just might not get it ..besides I have always been jealous of my British friend who goes for 3 weeks ..the longest we have ever been able to stay was 2 weeks and with 3 weeks .. he could have more resting time .. we have joked that this trip we will do it British style ..because our friends really take it slow and easy during thier 3 week stays and we just plain wore them out last April .. because we were always at a run , trying to do it all and do it all several times :) I know that every year we have went I have come home and thought .. "i should have bought that" ..but I always thought .. there will always be next year but .. there might not always be a next year

Tink....you have my sincerest sympathies. I have a cousin with MS, some days are better than others. He is working and has a young family.
I love the spirit that it shows when a person say that they will do something 'someday'. It shows hope. And hope is a good thing, a very good thing.

I will keep you and DH in my prayers
I just wanted to let you know that I will keep you in my prayers and I really admire you and your DH for being so strong. All we can do is enjoy the moments we have and I hope you have the most awsome time ever on your vacation. Don't think about the what if's, think about all the fun times you have together. I have to tell you a secret, one of my most favorite things I have enjoyed about all of our vacations to cedar point is the time me and my DH spend in the car together talking about silly things, it so hard to find time during the chaos of life to just sit and talk sometimes. I do understand your point for everyone though, about how we always say there will be another chance and how we shouldn't wait for that chance, but take the moment we have and do something with it.
Take Care.:heart

thank you all :)
well I didnt post this for sympathy ..but thanks everyone for the understand .. and prayers .. its going to be ok .. but I am counting on all you wonderful DC people to help me work out this trip. thanks to Mickey and a special thanks to MickeyMac I have already learned some important things ..like disney lets you have a fridge free of charge when its for medication.. and I have found lots of useful info on wheel chairs and scooters .... a bit of irony (spelling?) our first trip to WDW I got to meet Annette, and we noticed how she had to be "lead" out to the table where she was signing her Teddy Bears .. it wasnt till we got home that year that she came out to the public that she has MS. another bit of ironic humor .. when we use to push our granddaughters around in strollers we told them that someday when we were old and gray we were going to make them push us in wheel chairs .... mmm looks like someday is here :)
but like I said this trip is going to take a lot more special planning .. and I hope maybe I can pull off some kind of special surprise for hubby for this trip ..like last april when we surprised the girls with the AKL *grin* .. I may end up looking for suggestions from ya'll for that too .. because I really want to make this his best trip!!

Tink, I've thought about & prayed for you & DH ever since you first told us of his health problems. I have a very dear friend who has MS...she's about 10 years younger than I am & has twins who are just about a year and a half. I know the shock of the diagnosis & the ups & downs of the disease. I'll continue to pray for you both.
I hope you both get to do everything you want on this upcoming trip. And let this be a lesson to all of us....we're not guaranteed tomorrow. Enjoy life now, love those around you, & be thankful for each experience. God bless you and your DH Tink.

I will keep your DH and you and family in my prayers. Don't let this get you down! God says he never gives us more than we can handle so he must have faith in y'all that you can handle this and still be strong. My cousin has MS she is 28 and was diagnosed 2 years ago. She to me is amazing she didn't let this stop her at all.
As for the trip have a blast! YOu know we will do all we can to help you, I learn thru everyone elses posts! I didn't know fridges were free for meds! That may come in handy for me in the future. May God bless you! Melinda |

Tink, you and your husband will be in my prayers. Have you contacted Disney to see if there are vacation co-ordinators that might be able to help you with details like having a handicapped room, wheelchair rentals, etc?

not yet .. we have a long ways to go before making any real res. because we are trying to get friends and family all there during the same dates .. the one biggest decision ( besides the wheel chair) is that we are going to go for 3 whole weeks!!!!!!!!!!! I cant tell you all how this has improved DH's spirits .. He has talked of nothing else .. specially that 3 weeks will give us the time we want to enjoy the resorts and the parks :) We are now talking about going a head and getting a wheel chair to take with us .. he has come along way in just a few days ..but mostly because this vacation idea has lifted his spirits ..and today he is having a very bad day physically too ..but inspite of that he is much more cheerful then he has been in months and its soooooo very worth it!!!!! We almost decided on the AKL again but then decided the extra money would be more fun to spend on meals and stuff .. hmmm instead of extra empty suitcases this time we may need a u-haul when we come back home !!! So I think .. at least right now .. CBR is going to be the resort but as my friend Dixie likes to say "watch this space" .. cuz that could change *grin* your all so wonderful ..thank you ..and thank you in advance because I know I will be counting on you to help me put this together !! .. ohh and our current target dates are july 30 - aug 20 of 2004 !;pirate:
