How to do it in one day.

Okay, call me stupid, but we are visiting the Magic Kingdom:D for one day (Wed, Thurs or Fri) during the week of April 21st. What do I need to know? What do I need to do in advance? I've got two daughters, aged 7 and 10, who have never been to Disney before. They like rides, but not the crazy wild throw-up ones. They are not in to the whole princesses thing any more. There will be two adults so we can divide and conquer! Advise for a one-day blast much appreciated.

I would first get a map for MK before leaving and devise a plan. This way you can cross off the things you don't want to do and make a list of MUST DOS. Make sure you are there at opening!! Decide if you want to see the parade because you could really get some good lines during the parade if you skipped BUT the parade is EXCELLENT and I personally wouldn't miss it plus it could give you a little rest time. I would also decide where I was going to eat and etiher eat early or late and NOT at peak dining times you will encounter long lines. FAST PASS!!! As often as possible where it will save you time. I'm sure there will be plenty of advice that is great given to you.

OH AND HAVE FUN!!!

We've done Magic Kingdom in one day many times. (We have just recently started staying over the weekends sometimes.) It can be done. If you have a way to get a map of the MK before hand, just study it and get a feeling for where you want to go, and rides you *must* do. This will save you LOTS of time. Also, if you don't *need* autographs from the characters, this will save you time, since waiting in those lines can take a while!!! We don't go for the big rides; we hit fantasy land and toon town and Tomorrow land first, and then any time left over when we have done everything we want to is extra. We'll stroll around to the other sections and look around. Then get a spot for the night parade. As Willbegone mentioned, eat at off times, since it won't be so crowded then. (eat lunch either before 1130am or after 2pm!!) And fast pass will help to fit in the rides that you want!! Have a great time!!!!!:D

I suggest looking at,or buying,Bob Sehlinger's book The Unofficial Guide to Disney 2203 version. It has a Magic Kingdom One-day touring plan that will hit the major stuff.

My recommendation would be to pre-purchase your theme park passes. Then, when you get to the TTC, you can by-pass the lines and hop on the ferry or monorail.

Do you have your choice of those 3 days? I would choose thursday because it's an early day you have one extra hour and can get that much more done.

Welcome Mahs1123! You will DEFINITELY find some great info here!!!

Doing the MK will be hard in one day. You won't have time to see and do every single thing in the park, but you can get a lot done if you PLAN, PLAN, PLAN! That is the best tip I can offer you. I have been to Walt Disney World 10 times, and I still have not seen and done everything there!!! So you need to follow a plan in order to pack as much as possible into that one day.

You should definitely choose Thursday out of the three days. Friday and Saturday is SO much more crowded! Thursday will be crowded when you go, too, but it will be a lot lighter than weekend days.

There is a good book called THE HASSLE FREE WALT DISNEY WORLD VACATION 2003 by Steven M. Barrett that includes daily plans for every park. What's great about this book is that it lists what you should do if you are Adults, Adults with Children and even Seniors. There is a plan for everyone! There is a one day plan for the Magic Kingdom that will help you get the most out of your day there.

You should also get PS in restaurants of your choice. Like others have said, go to eat at off times, when the restaurants will be less crowded. Maybe you guys should eat breakfast off-site, this way you will have more time to enjoy rides and attractions when the gates open! And be there EARLY....it gets crowded as soon as the gates are open, and you want to be right there when they do!

I hope this helps you. You might want to consider another trip there when you can really spend the time to enjoy "The World" and all it has to offer. Your kids (and you too) will LOVE it!!!

Have fun!!!:D

Ok I am with you ... thats something we couldnt do not even think about .. my goodness .. what you can miss .. just the simplest things ..the joy of walking down Mainstreet and wondering about .. and I have to admit ..I was shocked that at such a young age they didnt care for princesses .. heck hubby is nearly fifty and well .. believe me ..he is still interested in the princesses!!!!!

MK isnt Six Flags //// of course thats a disney addits opinion *grin* .. MK and WDW are where dreams come true and dreams are remembered :) so good luck Mahs1123! I guess the others say you can do it ..you can do it :) and here is the best place for help

I don't think that you can use the extra magic hour, unless you are staying at a Disney resort.

Mickey?
