lets talk about august crowds?
ok .. at this moment .. we are thinking july 30 - aug 20 2004 .. we have always done spring ..cept for that one time in late june when the crowds where just awful ( nearly 3 hours just to get on the POC) so August will be totally new for us ..with 3 weeks heat aint a problem ..lots of time for rest ..but I do want to know what we might expect from the crowds and the park hours.
so everyone that has been that time of year jump in here and tell me what I can exept :)

This wil be my first trip in late august. I have been told, by more then one person, that the crowds aren't bad all. The closer to the end of August the better because teh Florida schools are back in by then.

Late August typically is one of the slower times at the Disney parks, for a couple of reasons. One reason -- Florida kids are back in school -- already has been mentioned. The other big reason is that no Florida residents will brave the August heat unless they absolutely have to.
Florida heat and humidity in August can be brutal. Just walking around and waiting in lines is very uncomfortable, especially if you're not used to it. The heat decreases at night, but not the humidity. Another factor to consider for late August is the Labor Day weekend, which is Aug. 30-Sept. 1. Crowds are generally pretty big for the Labor Day weekend.

:) thanks ya'll we are texans ...use to heat and humidity ..and we have already talked about how we will use the heat of the day for just doing things at the resort or sitting and enjoying our favorite little out of the way spots at the parks.. only worry I did have about the heat is how bad the heat effects DH now because of the MS .. but since he has given in to a wheel chair it wont be as bad :heart but if you add heat and lots of people it does get worse or seems to feel.

We went last year Aug. 1-10. It was hot and the inevitable afternoon thunderboomer but we had a great time. The afternoon shower actually helps clear the parks. People leave to go back to their hotels. I say leave by 1pm to go outside the parks for a rest or swim. By the time the 4pm shower comes around you're ready to go back to the parks that are less crowded.
