Crowds/Weather in August

I am planning a trip to Disney World this August during one of the Magical Weeks of Disney (8/10-19). I have two questions: 1) Are the crowds really lighter at this time and, 2) Would it be hotter than mid-July? I've been once in July and it was hot, hot, hot.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hi Monique, welcome to MouseBuzz.

August is HOT! July and August are about the same for rain and heat.

The earlier in the month you go the higher the crowd level. If you can wait until late in the month (after about the 20th) most families are home getting ready for school to start.

We have been there at the end of August and like, Steph said, the crowds weren't too bad....you gotta go when you gotta go.

There will be crowds - utilize fast pass as much as you can. It will be hot. There's really no getting around either in early August.

Yup. It's hot. No way around it: you'r gonna be hot and sweaty in August.
There are normally daily rainfalls sometime in the late afternoon and then the sun comes back out and it's steamy.

Just admit defeat: the sun will win, and then go about making your plans. Pack lots of water, wear a hat and sunscreen , plan for mid-day breaks at the hotel pool, cut through the gift shops when possible and relax at meal time sin the A/C.

We've all done it, we all will do it again. So you'll have fun anyway.

We usually go in August. It is hot,hot,hot. We always do early morning hour and leave the park by lunch to head back to the resort for a swim/rest. Then we go out again around 4pm , usually to a different park. Drink lots of water and take frequent breaks.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses. Having been there is July already I now know how to prepare. I live in Austin so heat is nothing new to me, it's just the humidity that takes a little getting used to. Like you've said, you go when you can and have a great time.

I went the first weeks of August back in 97. It was crowded and SUPER, DUPER hot. I am going again this august, but am waiting till the very last days of it and first few days of spetember hoping that it won't be as crowded due to many kids already starting school. The heat in unavoidable, but we plan to tour early mornings and late evenings hoping to avoid the hotest parts of the day....we'll melt regardless ,but this may make it more bearable. Hey you have to go when you can. I would much prefer to be going in late October or the third week of january....cept I would have to leave my DD home..lol

Dana, I just saw that we might overlap in August! Our dates are not totally firm yet but maybe we will!!
