EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

Miss SMIG and I will be in WDW during the Flower and Garden Festival...

Our game plan is to spend the entire day, from opening to closing in EPCOT.

I was wondering... can my DISNEY PROS give me the heads up on what to do and what not to do during the Flower and Garden Festival...

thanks,

Re: EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

I've been to the Flower and Garden twice, but like Bella have not attended any of the seminars. It depends on how much of a plant nut you are I suppose. I love just wandering and looking at all the beautiful displays. It really is amazing. Be sure to take tons of pictures!!!

Re: EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

This is WDW's very best festival. They beef up every single planting, everywhere you look! You will be stunned and amazed at the incredible topiary displays (be sure to take a camera so you can snap each and every amazing sculpture.) Also, check out the potted plantings at all the WS pavilions! (Don't get TOO close to the ones in Italy! Muahahaha...) Between FW and WS are a bunch of very fun booths with all sorts of gardening displays, lessons, info and even things to buy. There is usually a really cool farming display near The Land. In Mexico, check out the Orchids that are living in the huge tree along the side path. The Chinese gardens are amazing, too. Don't forget that the topiaries are also in Future World, so be sure to roam everywhere! And the rose gardens are really pumped up -- they are also between FW and WS.

Re: EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

We've been twice and there isn't much "to do" except the seminars but LOTS to see. As everyone mentioned they really go all out on the flowers, landscaping and especially the topiaries. I think the seminars consist of gardening and landscaping tips.

Re: EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

Once, during the F&G festival, a CM was working on a topiary of Belle in front of France, and she showed us that they "freshen up" the topiaries with live plugs of ivy, which they stick in place by using a bobby pin!

Re: EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

Everything is absolutely beautiful in both WS and FW. Definately check the following:

Butterfly Tent - you go into a tent full of butterflies and try to get them to land on your hand or fingers.

Lady Bug Release - this is a daily event. Check Guest Services for the times.

France - a definite do not miss. They have smelling boxes in their garden for perfumes. They tell you which flower scents are used to give the perfume scent. DH bought one of the perfumes, when we got home because it was cheaper, that we fell in love with (Champs-Elysees).

Kid Crafts - depending on the age of your child, they have arts and crafts activities for the kids WHICH IS FREE. They are normally located between WS and FW.

Flower Power Concerts - at the American Adventure there are concerts. We saw the Animals, or was it the Turtles can't remember, and had a blast. Check Allearsnet.com when it gets closer to your trip.

Rose Gardens - the walk way between Imagination and WS has a beautiful rose garden, all labeled.

Children's garden - between WS and FW there is a garden with characters. When we went 2 years ago, they had a dog theme. All the Disney dog characters where there.

Seminars - check out the F&GF booklet. It will give you seminars and times.

It really is a don't miss event and you will never look at EPCOT the same again.

Re: EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

I've been to the Flower & Garden Festival once and really enjoyed it. The butterfly tent is beautiful. As hiner said, you go in to a tent where there are tons of butterflies and just watch them or try to get one to land on your hand. It was amazing to me that they hardly ever would fly out of the tent- Disney magic I guess!

Also something else that was pretty neat was "Farmer Mickey's Maze". It had alot of topiaries of the Fab 5 and scarecrows with a little Disney touch!

Also, in most of the countries there are topiaries of characters that connect with the country. (ex: Koda was in Canada)

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the "headquarters" for the F&G Festival is in the building that the Fountain View Cafe is in. The F&G area is in the back section of this if I remember correctly. That's where you can buy F&G merchandise and get information about the seminars.

You're gonna love it! Make sure you take lots and lots of pictures!

Wow thanks for this info we have been there during the Flower and Garden Festival the last 2 years and never caught any of this, but I think we will this year now that I know all this. The most we did was look at the topiaries.
