queastion re: Christmas decorations
We are starting to plan for a trip next Christmas-time, and we would like to know when the Christmas decorations get put up. Does it happen gradually over time? It would be really cool if we could be there one day & see the parks without decorations, then the next day see all of the pretty decorations. I just think that would be really cool.
Anyway, does this happen, or is it more of a gradual thing? We would like to spend 2 weeks and need help with which date we will start the vacation. We want to be there during slower time, so we were thinking the 1st 2 weeks of December would be good. Opinions please.  |

It does happen over time starting around late october/early november. They are suppose to be up totally by thanksgiving I think.

A lot of stuff happens overnight. Trees are put in place, already decorated and sectioned for ease of transport and assembly, like the trees. Some things, like the gingerbread carousel begin construction months in advance, but again, it's something that will materialize overnight, not a project you will see take shape in front of you. Plus, I saw a lot of stuff come down on Jan 1. By Jan 2, much of the world showed no signs of the season. I'm pretty confident, most decorations go up the three week days before Thanksgiving, and they just roll into the season from there.

I agree...things happen overnight and it's fun to see! We were there in December, when the Christmas tree at the MK was near the Castle. We wanted to take a family portrait in front of it, with the Castle as a backdrop the next time we went to MK. Well, guess what? It was moved to the front of the park! (where it usually is, anyway)
You will just LOVE WDW at Christmas time. It is my ABSOLUTE favorite time to go!!!

Our friends were there over Thanksgiving one year and they said they literally went to sleep one night and then woke up to Christmas everywhere. I've never been there during that time, but I have been there in December and the decor is fabulous!!!!

That's exactly why I really want to go at that time of year. Everyone here at mouse buzz has just gone on so much about how pretty it is, I just can't wait & it's almost a year away!

I was disappointed to find that Contemporary and Polynesean didn't really do much in the way of decoration. We somehow never managed to make it to the Grand Floridian or the Boardwalk's lobby.
