Question regarding severe weather in Disney World.

I'm sitting here watching news first and for most I want to give my thoughts and prayers to all those effected by the tornado that happened eariler this morning and if anyone on here effected on the forum personally. Thinking about severe weather, where would we go in case of emergency is there a place underground at the parks or hotels?

Re: Question regarding severe weather in Disney World.

Well, when the hurricanes hit, the parks were closed, and the guests stayed at their resorts. Not sure what would happen if a tornado was struck on property. I'm sure everyone would be ordered indoors, but extremely doubtful they would let guests in the MKs or Epcot's tunnels. We're OK by the way this morning.

Re: Question regarding severe weather in Disney World.

My experience has been the parks close and guests are strongly encouraged to stay at their resorts. If Disney Transport isn't running because of the storm, you aren't going anywhere anyway.

Re: Question regarding severe weather in Disney World.

I was wondering if WDW was affected much by the bad weather. When we we there in Dec. a strom blew through and I thought there was going to be a tornando. But, I am a Califorian! If it rains more the 20 minutes, we scream flood. Regards from drought stricken California.

Re: Question regarding severe weather in Disney World.

We were there for Hurricane Floyd (which didn't hit as strong as they thought it would at WDW) and they closed the parks and made us stay in our hotel. Lucky for us it was our honeymoon and we were at one of the most beautiful resorts - Wilderness Lodge. It was pretty scary though. Now we vacation in Feb rather than Sept/Oct to avoid the hurricanes, but now I am hearing about this tornado. Isn't it rare to have those in FL this time of year? We head down next Wed, so I hope there aren't any weather worries! My thoughts are with everyone that is dealing with the damage from this tornado - I hope everyone is ok.

Hey fellow RI-er!

I know several people who were at WDW during the hurricanes. They kept everyone indoors and pretty well informed of what was going on.

Its just looks like a rainy yucky day here now. Footage coming in of the Villages is pretty terrible however. I believe there are still tornado warnings until 4pm or so.

I hope Ginger is ok. I don't have her cell anymore, or I'd call and check on her.

I'm glad to see you posted Magic.

We just had power outtages here, and a few warnings, but no actual tornadoes.

I hope everyone is ok.

Re: Question regarding severe weather in Disney World.

Wow, what a crazy day. I live in Lake county where it was one of the hardest areas hit. Luckily, we didn't get much damage in my immediate area, just lots and lots of wind and rain. The sky was very eery today when I had to take Drew to work since we were still under tornado watch. The storm woke me up when it first hit and I haven't been back to sleep since. Wow, am I ever tired! But we got power back fast in my area, so I am grateful for that.

Re: Question regarding severe weather in Disney World.

I just found out Alfredo (the guy I was dating a few weeks ago) had a friend killed in the storm this morning. How very sad....I feel really bad for him. He's pretty upset.
