O.k., I have a question about our tickets. For this trip, we have a six day MYW w/ park hopper. Our tickets will be activated Feb. 6th. If I decide to upgrade them to AP's, will they expire on Feb. 6th '08, or will they expire a year from when I purchased to tickets.

The reason I ask is because we already promised our friends we would return to WDW in Jan. of '08 with them since we had so much fun together on our last trip. Since these plans are kinda set, would it be more cost- effective to just go ahead and upgrade the tickets to an AP? I only have to pay the difference in price if I do this right?

Hi!

Yes, it will be 1 year from when you activate them. So, February 6th. We just did this in August, after the free dining. It was so easy. And, believe it or not, less expensive than adding the "no expiration" option on.

When I purchased our AP, I had figured out all different options money wise. Since getting a DVC member discount (I think it was $100. each for the four of us) If we go to the parks 10 times it pays itself off. In December we used it six times, this Feb. we will use it four times, we are possibly going in August, and are going Thanksgiving for seven times of park hopping. So not counting the possible August trip, we will have even "free" days at the parks.

You should upgrade before using any of the days (if I understood the question correctly)- this way you'll have full value to use when you urgrade.

You get full credit but the pass will have the activation date. It just makes you an AP holder retroactively.

And will SOMEBODY explain again WHY every other pass that is good for even 1 use (like MVMCP) is plastic but the stinking AP is PAPER?!?!?!?

We actually upgraded at the end of our trip. We still got the full value of our old passes. However, if we had the AP's we would have saved money at Bippity Boppity Boutique and World of Disney.

I ditto what everyone else has said..but just wanted to say that we had AP's for a year and it really was GREAT investment!
You get discounts at a number of restaurant and store (including WOD) and...it's pretty cool to be sitting at work and have a crappy say and think "Hey--I COULD go to WDW if I really wanted too."
