AP question...

If I were to buy an AP from the Disney store, Is it activated right there?

Could I then use it for the AP room only discounts?

Re: AP question...

No ...they will sell you a AP Voucher that you will redeem at one of the parks for the real AP and that is when your year will start. You can book AP rates before you get an AP......you may have to show the AP when you check-in at your Disney Resort.

You will be able to access the Disney Pass holder’s web site using the AP Voucher number.

Re: AP question...

I'm not sure about the Disney Store APs. Years ago I remember reading about one place you caould buy an already activated AP but I don't remember where that was (other than WDW).

I ordered an AP directly from WDW over the phone and got a voucher that I had to activate once we got to WDW. I know we checked in before I activated the voucher and I don't think I had to show my activated voucher later. I booked our room on just the voucher, in fact I didn't order the voucher until after I booked our room.

We're looking for a short trip in 2 weeks... a quick getaway... and trying to find the cheapest route....We don't plan on going into the parks but we're going back in september and plan on going to the parks then.

Re: AP question...

Even if you still have only the vouchers in hand at check-in, there should be no problem, present the vouchers and tell them you'll be activating them as soon as you get settled. If you are that concerned, stop at the park closest to your resort and process the passes before you check in.
AP discounts are always better than AAA and seem to be more available.

Re: AP question...

You can also activate your AP at DtD. This is where we renew ours every year prior to going to the resort.

Re: AP question...

Disney stores sell only a limited selection of daily passes - you can't add options like never expire.

Don't sell APs. Available at parks or online. Online you get voucher (PLASTIC) which you turn in to activate (STUPID PAPER PASS) - bet you can't guess what one of MY pet peeves is...

You know, I have really been thinking about this paper thing. If they can print up your "keys to the kingdom" card right at the main desk at resorts, why couldn't you get a plastic ap as well? I don't get.

Re: AP question...

When I did this...the resort allowed us to check in because I asked for a manager/ but we still had to activate the pass and show it at the front desk by midnight that day to get the discount.
But if you activate then your year begins that day.
Good luck.
