Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Should we do this? I understand there is a photo, hot chocolate, and cookies. There is a parade, I think. What rides are open? Is it worth the extra money and are there limited lines for rides? I really don't know if it is worth the extra dollars. Convince me,please.

Re: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

If you have never done it, I HIGHLY recommend going!!! We've gone 3 times and had a blast!!! NOTHING is more spectacular than MK at Christmas. At the party, they have special parades twice a night complete with SNOW on Main Street!!! You get unlimited cookies and hot chocolate all night long. As for the FREE photo, I don't think it's free any longer. I think you have to pay for it, but you get a discount. I am not sure, but I think that is what I heard. You can also include the photo on your PhotoPass Card so if you buy the CD the Christmas Party pics will be on there!

Most rides were open the 3 times we went. We were PLEASANTLY surprised that there were little to NO wait times!

There were shows going on all throughout the park. You get a MVMCP MAP when you enter!

Another GREAT tip...don't waste a park day! You can enter MK as early as 4pm on the night of the party! So you will be able to enjoy MK from 4p-12midnight! No need to waste a park day...especially since it will be a REALLY late night for everyone!

Another tip...eat dinner BEFORE the party starts! You don't want to waste your valuable party time eating! Book an ADR as soon as you know which date you want to go (as soon as the party dates are released). We have eaten at CP and LTT before the party.

Re: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

I agree with all that Kim said: you should give it a try. There's snow on Main St, special parades and fireworks, and low park attendance.

But be sure to eat first, like she said. We made the mistake of trying to eat when we got there (we missed our ADR for LTT) and the only places open were all booked. We ended up with a hot dog from Casey's as our dinner.

Re: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Also,
We noticed that they have "special" characters out and about. We saw Belle and the Beast in their chirstmas finest. They also had Donald and Daisy, all dressed up for christmas. My daughter just loved this. Plus, there wasn't a lot of kids in the autograph lines.

Another thing we noticed was around 9:00 pm or after the last parade, the park really started to clear out, it was amazing. You would think if you spent extra money you would stay the whole time, but they didn't. It is really cool to walk around the lands and really feel like you are the only one there.

I would definitly give it a try!!

Re: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Well worth the expense!! The making of snow on Main St. the special parades and shows that they have throughout the MK, make it worth it. Most of the major rides / attractions are open the whole time, and as others have said, after the 9:00 PM parade, the park empties out. It has a special feeling of the holidays.

Re: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

I agree with everyone here. It is well worth it. They do not offer the gree photo anymore however. The rides that were open in 2006 were:

Pirates
Magic Carpets
Splash Mtn.
CB Jamboree
Big Thunder Mtn. RR
Haunted Mansion
Peter Pan
Carrousel
Dumbo
Philharmagic
Snow White
Winnie the Pooh
Tea cups
It's a small world
Indy speedway
Space Mtn.
Astro Orbiter
Buzz Lightyear
Stitch
TTA
Barnstormer

I think that was it. It was a really great time and a special party for a special time of year.

Just the Christmas parade and fireworks are with the price of admission.

We've always gone in early December and the crowds are generally small.

I agree!! We went for a weekend, spur of the moment, in December and attended our very first MVMCP. We'd been to the Halloween party three times, but never the Christmas one. We had a BLAST. DS LOVED the snow on Main Street and we even got a train station viewing spot for the parade and fireworks. It was a wonderful evening!

If you're there for a weekend then you'll see it.
