Planning Our Next Trip - Help

We are starting to talk about the next trip. WOO HOO!! It will be in September or October. I know that some of you visit Universal Studios or SeaWorld on your trips. I have some questions and need a little help.

We will be taking our granddaughter who will be 4 years old when we leave so with a 4 year old.....

Universal Studios or SeaWorld?

If Universal:
Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure?......or both?

Need one day or two?

Universal Meal Deal.... yes or no?

How do you travel from WDW and back? Taxi, rent a car?

I also would appreciate any other information you could give us. We would enjoy both Universal and SeaWorld but we are more concerned with things that McKayla would enjoy and be able to do.

Things that we do know we want to stay at Old Key West again with one day planned at the resort so we can rest and McKayla can play.

Thanks for all your help and info!

Re: Planning Our Next Trip - Help

IMHO, your granddaughter would probably enjoy SeaWorld more than Universal. You can definitely do it in a day and she would have a blast with all the marine life. She can feed the seals, dolphins and sting rays, along with petting the horses and seeing Shamu's show. There are not as many rides, but definitely more that she can get on than at Universal.

Hope that might have helped.

Re: Planning Our Next Trip - Help

Wow this is a hard call. We really liked Sea World and yes it is something that you could do alot of in a day, but there is alot of fun stuff at US also. I don't know, maybe you should investigate the parks further and get a feel of what they have. One thing is, if you only want to invest one day into this, I would go with Sea World, because it wouldn't be enough for US/IOA.

Re: Planning Our Next Trip - Help

If she is an animal lover and likes shows, I would pick Sea World. You can definately see most of it in a day. There are a lot of animal interactions and the shows are really good.

As far as going off property, maybe you can rent a car for the day. We always have our own, so we leave property occaionally. But your idea of a txi might be a good one, although that might be expensive.

Universal Studios or SeaWorld?
Sea world for her age. I think there is more for her there. When she gets a bit older, definately the others.

No, I used tiffany's. They were only $55 round trp when I did it, but they went up. The going rate is now $75ish. you may be able to get something lower. I am going from the 20th- 27th and heading back to the AKL.

I bsolutley love US/IOA and am not that crazy about Sea World (just so you know where the opinion is coming from) - but for that age I would say definitely Sea World.

Re: Planning Our Next Trip - Help

I would vote for Sea World. Not only do they have all the animal encounters, but they also have the new area with rides for the younger crowd. There is a Shamu rollercoaster very similar to the Barnstormer. Also if you do decide to go to UA check the height restrictions on the rides. I have not taken DDs there yet because they would not be able to ride some of the rides based on Characters that they love.

I would vote on renting a car that day. Also the market (or Walmart) is not far from OKW and you can stock up on items instead of paying that little extra at the OKW store.

Re: Planning Our Next Trip - Help

Thanks everyone, we are starting to think SeaWorld. I am not a thrill rider - BTMRR is large enough for me so we are just looking for rides, characters and things to do for McKayla. She loved the rides at WDW and will still be to small for even many of them again this year but also loved the characters and play areas.

Re: Planning Our Next Trip - Help

I think SeaWorld is a good choice for you if your granddaughter is young and you don't like thrill rides. We haven't been to SW is years but we always enjoyed it when we went.

Re: Planning Our Next Trip - Help

Since you mentioned she likes rides and characters so I think you should do both Universal and IOA. They offer some really good deals with both parks combined and multiple days so its a great value. There are lots of attractions for all of you to enjoy at Universal and even though IOA has thrill rides there is still lots to see and do. If you plan on going to Universal you should to plan to spend at least 2 days there, one day for each park. I will say that with the free days they give away its hard not to use them. We went to SW and its a great park but if I had to pick between the two it would definitely be Universal.

We rented a car to get around but a taxi will work just fine. I didn't get the meal plan but it looked the a great deal so I say yes to that. We ate at Mel's Drive In and at Thunder Falls Terrace at IOA, the food was really good at both.

Whatever you decide I think she will enjoy both.
