Icon5 which is better for us AP or 7 day hopper???

I am so confused at which is a better way to go . I don't know if we will go next year for sure or not , I would guess if the discounts are good possibly. I know you get discounts with the pass for other things as well like merchandise , food & I saw at the BBB Bouitque etc etc.

We are set up with our package to have a 7 day hopper pass , but when it was priced out i have just the grand total not item by item. SO can anyone tell me the price diffrence between 7 day hopper and the AP. i thought if we got 1 AP that would be good enough to get us any discounts if thats all we ended up getting out of it.

thanks much, I tried looking it but its seems there are sooo many kinds of passes I am not sure if I looked at the right pass or not to be honest

Re: which is better for us AP or 7 day hopper???

A couple of years ago I got an AP for the room rate. We didn't get another trip out of it but we had 2 rooms at WL so we saved a bunch right there. There are some discounts, one I remember is at the World of Disney store at DtD. There are also some restaurant discounts but I don't remember all of them.

I think the break even point is either 10 or 13 days, after that you are better off getting the AP.

I would just stick to what you have unless you think you are going to go for sure next year.

I agree. The last time I compared the numbers, if you were going to the parks 13 or more days in a one year period, the AP made more sense. But that was based solely on comparing ticket prices, not taking any AP discounts into consideration.

I forget the exact numbers, but I thought the price break was around 10 days. That was before the Magic Your Way Ticket pricing and us joining the DVC. Not sure of the complete breakdown now. Did you look at AAA pricing for the daily tickets?

We've gone with the AP now, but we work to get two trips out of the passes. We'll eventually miss a year, but we still prefer the AP.

We do use the AP for discounts - but you really need to be sure where they will be accepted. Sometimes we get a discount for DVC, but not AP; its gets a little crazy trying to keep track.

I love these pocket guides, it's so easy to keep track of discounts. One trip we had an AP, DDE, and DVC discount to keep track of.

The other thing is if you got a package deal (it would really matter if you're planning to use the dining plan) all members in your room have to purchase the same tickets. SO, if you decide to get one AP, wait and upgrade your ticket at WDW -- don't change your current ressie!

Re: which is better for us AP or 7 day hopper???

We are on the dining plan now.

So if we decide to do that we should wait until we arrive and do it? can I also decide to do that say 3 days into the trip and it not effect the other tickets ? i am thinking only one pass hopper is what I want incase the second trip does not come in a year.

Re: which is better for us AP or 7 day hopper???

If you are only getting an AP for the discounts on food and the World of Disney store I'm not sure you'll make up the difference if you don't get another trip out of it. If you were getting a room discount or not on the dining plan then you should.

You just need to do the math an AP costs $462 and a 7 day hopper costs $271. If you think you'll get about $200 worth of discounts then it's worth it, if not stick with the hopper.
