Buying APs

We are getting ready for a May trip to WDW and buying APs for the first time!

Are there any advantages to buying at home at the Disney Store or should I wait until we get to Florida?

If I get the vouchers at the Disney Store where at the MK do I redeem them for real APs?

Thanks in advance for the perspective

Purchase them prior to leaving home, they may be more expensive in Florida. At the Disney Store, they will give you a voucher that you can take to guest services to get your AP. At the Magic Kingdom, the guest services window is to the far right as you walk up to the gate.

Unless there is an Annual Pass price increase, the price is the same whether you buy them at home or at WDW. Just a FYI, Annual Pass increases are usually taken in the fall.

If you buy the AP at home, you still must visit a Guest Services window at the parks to exchange it for your ticket, so you will not be saving any time there.

I think it all depends on your state's sales tax whether or not the price will be bigger.

Doesn't matter where you buy Disney tickets, you pay the FL tax and the prices are the same whether you buy at a Disney Store or at WDW!

This is something I asked alittle while ago in a post. If you search the forum for AP benefits it should come up. AP holders do get great discounts at the Disney Resorts, Im not sure if its all the time or if they have to wait for special AP codes. They also get other discounts here and there at Restuarants and shops. Im sure a AP holder can clerify for me.

Here's another question along these lines. I bought the AP's at the Disney Store last month. I won't be turning them in until the end of May, and our June trip will be just 2 weeks after that. When do they mail you all your paperwork stating what your benefits are? I know they didn't take my name or info when I bought the AP vouchers. I'm going to have to do that search, cause I think you get discounted prices for tickets for yourself other people in your party, at least for Disney Quest and Blizzard Beach/Typhoon Lagoon, right?

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to say that many places in FL don't sell the vouchers, they sell active tickets. The price will be the same, it is just that you may have less days to use it.

As far as benefits, I believe that you get a little booklet when you get your actual pass, and it acts as the card holder for your pass. Otherwise, you can see them here:

2003 AP benefits

We are thinking about buying AP's. When do they increase the ticket price. I know around fall, but does anyone have a month?
thanks

Disney does not follow a set schedule for raising prices. Nor do they give advance notice.

AP vouchers may be redeemed for the real thing at any park ticket window as well as Guest Services at the parks.

Having AP for several years, I have found one thing. If you go to Guest Services at MK, you will definitely wait in line. I recommend going to Downtown Disney Guest Services or MGM Studios. It always seems like those two locations have the smallest lines if any at all.

Sadly, I think we aren't going to renew this month. We have decided to at least try to resist the temptation of WDW and go other places next year. That means only one more trip this year and probably only one trip next year. That means it's not worth the price to renew.

Captgoodguy, you are absolutely right! The Guest Service windows at all of the parks are swamped in the morning!!! I went to DTD and activated my AP at Guest Services there, and there was no one else in there! It's kind of hidden, and I don't think a lot of people know it's even there! I definitely recommend going to DTD the night before you go to the parks to activate them there. GOOD LUCK! ;)
