Pirate Cruises

I'm interested in booking one of the pirate cruises for dd8 and ds5. I see that there are a couple of options for this: Grand Floridian, Yacht Club and Carribean Beach.

Does anyone know if they are all pretty much the same thing. I'm not sure which one to pick.

I did read that the one from Yacht Club stops at a few places in Epcot. Do the kids really get out and go into Epcot with the CMs? Somehow I can't see that.

I'd love to hear about anyone's experience with these pirate cruises.

Thanks,
Kathy

Re: Pirate Cruises

My son went on the one from the Grand Floridian. He ABSOLUTELY loved it!!! Just know, they only take 20 kids per cruise (something like that) so you really must book early. Last year, I booked like 160 days out and there was only 1 spot left for the day I wanted...on ANY of the cruises!

I definitely do not think they go into Epcot...there isn't time! The cruise is only 2 hours. And that would require theme park admission, which at $28 and change, the Pirate Cruise doesn't cover.

I know Theresa's (Emerson) son just went on the one at the Yacht Club!

I may be too late for our trip in May. It's worth a try.

Reading Theresa's tr was got me thinking about the pirate cruise.

Get on the phone and try to book one! You may still be able to get it...if you call now!

I don't think you can really go wrong with ANY of the cruises!!!! There are actually FOUR cruises you can choose from:

The Bayside Marina near the Yacht Club also offers a special Albatross Treasure Cruise for children ages 4-10 -- Children will wear bandannas as they follow clues and sail to many exotic "ports of call" around Crescent Lake and Epcot looking for treasure. During the voyage, children will hear a reading of "The Legend of the Albatross." At the final port of call, children will have lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice box, and will split up the "buried treasure." Held Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Children must be potty trained -- no pull-ups. Price is $28.17 plus tax per child. Reservations are recommended. Call 407-WDW-DINE.

Port Orleans Riverside offers the Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise. Children travel along the Sassagoula River to learn the "Jester's" way of life. Along the way they explore the Sassagoula River and finally meet the character known as the Jester. The cruise is held Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for children ages 4-12. Cost is $28.17 plus tax per child. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to make reservations.

Island of the Caribbean Pirate Adventure - For children ages 4-10 (must be potty trained) -- young adventurers, wearing pirate bandannas, will board a boat to sail the Ports of the Caribbean, just like Captain Jack! They will be told the story of Old Port Royale and of the pirates that used to sail the waters. They will find props and signs leading to treasure. Once they recover the treasure, they will sail to Fort Cay and trade for some grub (lunch). When they return to Old Port Royale, they will unlock the treasure chest and bounty will be shared by all. As of 1/14/07, operates Sundays, as well as Tuesdays from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. $28.17 per child pus tax. Lunch: Peanut Butter and Jelly Uncrustables, Gummy Bears, Gold Fish Treats, and Apple Juice Box. Call 407-WDW-DINE for information on the resort marina at 407-934-2850.

Pirate Adventure at the Grand Floridian - Children wear pirate bandannas and follow clues to search Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon for buried treasure. They sail to many exotic "ports of call" (Resort Marinas) to collect treasure. Children who are potty trained (no pull-ups) and ages 4-12 may attend. Lunch is provided (Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Gummy bears, Krispy Treat and Juice box). Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Available to all guests. Cost is $28.17 plus tax.
Reservations 180 days in advance at 407-WDW-DINE.

My son has done the cruise at BC nad the GF cruise and liked both of them. I would send him on the GF cruise if he did it a third time.

They really do go to Epoct but before it opens at 11 am so the kids are safe and there's very little chance of getting lost since there's no crowd.

Re: Pirate Cruises

hi-
i'm here
sorry...... I was getting a dress fitting for my cousin's wedding....

So,
Kevin did go on the one from the Yacht and Beach club-
They did get off of the boat (according to Kevin) and walked near Canada to look for a piece of the map..... I know that it did go to 2 docks in Epcot....

THere were 2 CM's on his cruise- with 10 or 11 kids... but on another day, we saw 3 CM's on a cruise with only 5 kids-
That would have been really fun.

They did pull up to the sand at the pirate ship at the Y&B Club to get the treasure chest and eat lunch-
It was very cute... and he totally had a ball.

VERY WORTH 30 bucks- that is for certain!

I would try the one from GF next time.... we did this one because we were staying at the Swan.

Good luck!

(Want a letter to invite? I have that one too!!! )

I'm on hold right now with WDW and they're playing "A pirate's life for me". How funny is that?!

Re: Pirate Cruises

It must be my lucky day! The Grand Floridian was already booked but I did manage to get a reservation for the cruise from the Yacht club. That is actually fine with me because I've never had a chance to explore the boardwalk area, and now dh and I will have 2 hours to ourselves to do just that!

Re: Pirate Cruises

I think my DD would love one of these cruises. I tried to talk her into one during our last trip, but she chose the cooking class instead. She had such a great time that I don't know if I will ever be able to talk her into trying something different.
