Rides while pregnant

When we go back this year for free dining, I will be about 7 1/2 months pregnant. I know that I won't be doing any of the mountains, and I wouldn't do MS again even if I wasn't pregnant, but what else do you think I should really stay away from. Everything seems to have a warning for pregnant women, just to be cautious, I'm sure. But I don't think Dumbo, or Kiliminjaro Safari are really "stay away" rides for me. Anybody have some advise??

Re: Rides while pregnant

You are really limited at that stage. You need to avoid anything that has pressure changes (ie: drops) and/or jerky movements. So, some of the baby rides are okay and the shows. I would think rides like Haunted Mansion were okay or any other ride that has a slow moving car. Fortunately, there are plenty of them at WDW, unlike typical amusement parks.

I remember going to a Six Flaggs park when I was pregnant and there wasn't anything for me to do there.

I agree... no jerky rides at all! The safari ride may seem calm but it is jerky. The driver speeds up at times and turns corners, goes through ruts, etc.. would not advice that one either. Definitely stay away from Dinosaur also. Of course nothing that requires a tight lap belt.. being you won't have much of a lap at that stage... oohhh.. sorry...

Re: Rides while pregnant

Yes, I think you will be limited. I would stay away from the Safari ride because it is jerky, like the others have said, and Dumbo has a lap belt, so I don't think that one is a good idea either. Neither are the indy cars, since you shouldn't take the risk of being hit from behind.

Re: Rides while pregnant

I went to WDW when I was 29 weeks pregnant. I did the Safari, but it did shake me up a good bit. It is like your body is going one way, and your belly is going another!
I did do the Kali River Rapids and POC. I didn't think the drop on either of them would be too rough. I (of course) stayed away from all the roller coasters and dropping rides. I did do all the "kiddie" rides with my other two kids, and of course the shows were fine. HM and Jungle Cruise are also fun rides, and not too "kiddie" in nature. It is hard to be somewhere like WDW, and be limited in what you can ride.
Just use your best judgement as far as rides go. Also, listen to your body, if you need to rest, rest. Drink lots of water!! (Getting dehydrated can cause you to start having contractions!) Enjoy your trip!!

Re: Rides while pregnant

Oh, I forgot, I did ride the Indy cars, but I made sure my husband was behind me. He kept a safe distance from me, in case someone bumped him from behind, he didn't bump into me. If you are careful not to bump into the person in front of you and you know the person behind you won't bump into you, you should be safe.

You might want to stay away from the Safari. Depending on your driver you may hit EVERY bump and that's not good while pregnant.

Just to be safe you should talk to you doctor to find out what they recommend.

Re: Rides while pregnant

I would pass on anything with a warning. There is a reason behind the warning. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Rides while pregnant

Its A Small World!! Just kidding. You might want to stay away from the simulation rides like Star Tours. They jerk you around pretty good, not to mention it might make you a little motion sick.

Re: Rides while pregnant

We went to Disney while I was 6 months pregnant. We didn't even go to Animal Kingdom because I couldn't ride EE and I wouldn't ride the safari. I thought it was too jerky to risk it. MK has a ton of things you can do, we spent most of our time there. Have a good time and congrats!!

Does walking around count? ALOT. Of course, it won't be hot then.

Congrats.

Re: Rides while pregnant

DW was pregnant when we went 3 years ago and she was amazed at all the things she could do. This trip she will be about 6 months pregnant. She is looking forward to the trip since she knows there will be a lot that she can do. She doesn't worry about what she can't do, she can do that next year.

Re: Rides while pregnant

I'll be 5 months pregnant when we go in late May and I don't plan on riding anything with a warning. We've been to Disney many times before, and we'll go many times in the future. It's not worth the risk to me.

And, yes, the safari definitely has a warning. It's VERY bumpy. My DH doesn't like it for that reason alone.

Re: Rides while pregnant

I went to WDW when I was 7 1/2 months pregnant and I only rode the kiddie attractions and watched the shows. I didn't go on ANYTHING with a warning. (maybe except PoTC...does that have a warning???) It was also the worst trip of my life. I had such bad sciatica, I had to rent a wheelchair a couple of days simply because I couldn't walk. PLUS it was mid August.

I hope your trip is different and you have a WONDERFUL pregnancy! I went at just under 5 months preggo and DID go on the Safari and even Splash! DH was NOT a happy camper about it....
