Re: Crowds in middle to late May

We went late last May (around the 24th) and the crowds were wonderful. We couldn't believe the difference from our usual July crowds. The weather was really nice too, warm but not HOT.

Re: Crowds in middle to late May

I've done May two years in a row and it’s wonderful. The crowds aren't bad at all and the weather is beautiful. It only rained once in two years and that was for about an hour and the sun came back out. The parks are busy but not crowded, I would say the longest wait we encountered was 45 min for the big attractions. There was basically no wait at the counter service restaurants and you could walk up to certain table service restaurants and get a table or reservation for later with no problem.

Hi everyone! I'm very new to these boards, as this is my first post! Speaking of new, next month my DH and I are taking our two kids to WDW for the first time and I was wondering about the crowds too. Especially with it being Memorial Day weekend near the end of our trip. The only bright side is that my kids are 12 and 13 so no little ones to tote around. So does anyone know if Memorial Day makes it more crowded?

Welcome to MouseBuzz!

Memorial Day weekend is more busy than the week before but it's still not bad compared to summer crowds. We are used to July crowds so we still enjoyed the heavier late May crowd levels.

Re: Crowds in middle to late May

Our favorite travel week of the entire year is the week BEFORE Memorial Day weekend. We travel Saturday to Saturday, so we are leaving when the big crowds are arriving.
That week before Memorial Day is practically deserted, with excellent weather (every trip has been spectacular!) and plenty of room to move around. Plus, you get the Flower & Garden Festival! Perfect!

Re: Crowds in middle to late May

this really makes me happy knowing that the middle to late may crowds are not too large to have long long waits for rides and attractions. thanks for putting my mind at ease in regards to the crowds. thanks!!

Wow, really? We were there Memorial Day weekend in 2005, and it was pretty darn crowded starting on Saturday. But admittedly we have not been there in the summer since 1995! :

Re: Crowds in middle to late May

Thanks for the info! We will actually be there from the 19th to the 29th, so we will probably see it go from moderate to crowded.

Any quick tips or advice for first timers?

Thanks in advance everyone!!!

Re: Crowds in middle to late May

The whole family was in WDW in 2005 the end of May and it was great. We left the last day of school and it was great. Most of it was moderate crowds. I know we didn't have to wait long in a lot of the lines for the rides.
We are planning a trip at that time of the year again in May of 2008.
