I've never been a big coaster fan. I love Big Thunder and Splash, but Space Mountain-Nope. I've never been on Rock N' Roller Coaster- I don't like being turned upside down and moving at the speed of light! Soooo, I notice that Exp. Everest is billed as a family coaster, implying it's mild enough for smaller kids and older adults, right? Anybody think a big coaster chicken like me could handle it?
How about Test Track? I stand and watch it, but the feet don't wanna move and get on!

Re: Chicken Little needs advice and opinions!

Expedition Everest is kind of like Thunder Mountain on steroids.
If you are a true roller coaster hater, I don't think you will like it. It does have a good size drop (maybe about the size of the drop in Splash Mountain), but it does this backwards, round and round thing that I think could bother some people. But, animation and story line are amazing, so I think you should give it a try.
Test Track is great too. Not one significant drop. The story behind it is really neat too. The "fast" part is over really quick, too quick if you ask me. It is a really fun ride, and really, pretty tame.
Maybe you should stick by the rule we give our kids. Ride it once-just give it a try-if you don't like it, you don't have to do it again. It is kind of like veggies, if you don't try it, you will never know if you like it or not.

Re: Chicken Little needs advice and opinions!

Hi!

EE is a ride similar to BTMRR, except that for one short portion, you go backwards for a bit. It does not have corkscrews or upside-down parts. In addition, you see a movie thing inside, as well as cool theming and animatronics -- the animatronics are incredible! It's the Yeti! My kids LOOOOOVE the ride, even though one of them is a little hesitant to even venture onto Splash...

Space Mountain is actually quite mild. The thing is that it is DARK, so if darkness is scary to you, then the ride migh tbe scary. Again, there ar eno upside-down parts.

TT is our family favorite, and we go as often each day as possible. The only intense part is a big race around a track outside. you go 60 or so miles an hour, and it is exactly like driving on the highway, but the track is graded, so you feel the force of the speed, and it is FUN! There are usually lots of young kids on the ride, over and over.

Re: Chicken Little needs advice and opinions!

My six year old is not brave enough for Space Mtn or RnR, but he LOVES EE and TT. My DH HATES "real" coasters (he will ride BTMRR) and he's fine on TT - not a coaster at all and, as mentioned, the fast part is over way too fast.

DH has yet to try EE, but he'll have to in a few weeks because I can't ride (preggo) and DS will whine and beg until DH gets on it. I know he'll love it...the "extras" are amazing!!

Re: Chicken Little needs advice and opinions!

Test Track is no biggie - tell those feet to start moving. Really - the fast part outside is so fun - there's no drop - it just circles the building and it's over WAAAY too quickly. Not scary at all. There is absolutely nothing inside the building that is scary either. I promise.

As others have said, EE is like Big Thunder on steroids - but it's an amazing ride. I would pluck up the courage to just try it once. You don't go upside down - you just have to be prepared for the backward's part - but it's over quickly too.

As for R&R Coaster - I'm no "HUGE" coaster fan - but I absolutely LOVE this ride. It's much, much smoother than the other coasters and although you do turn upside down, it happens so quickly, you don't have time to get scared. Of all the coasters it's my fav - hands down. And I'm no young kid - trust me.

My mom rode Rock N' Roller Coaster and when we were walking out I said something about how smooth the loops were, she said "there were loops on there"

If you like BTMRR then TT will be a breeze.

Thank you so much for the advice and insight! I kinda suspected TT would be cool (I actually drove on a real raceway once. Got kicked off for insurence reasons! But I was WAY young then, and brave!). If EE is really like BTMRR only (gulp) bigger, I may be able to do it! It looks terribly tall, but I'm not scared of heights (DH however, IS) so if it's smooth and not the "jerk you around 'till you get a whiplash" kind of ride, I think I'd be OK! Thanks again!

Re: Chicken Little needs advice and opinions!

As far as jerk around and get whiplash goes, BTMR is way jerkier than rock n'roller coaster. Id give it a shot. Very smooth...

Re: Chicken Little needs advice and opinions!

Test Track, ha! I drive about 15 MPH faster on the way to WDW, and for 3 straight hours. The speed portion of Test Track is no more than a quick run at freeway speed and the rest of it isn't much worse than driving over a bunch of speed bumps in a parking garage.
Space Mountain isn't bad, it's not big, and it isn't fast. It's just in the dark, though you can make out plenty by the time you get to the top of the lift hill because your eyes have adjusted. The turns are quick and tight, with short quick drops. It's really just a modified wild mouse coaster.
EE is not exactly a family coaster, but it is fairly tame. EE is mostly inside the mountain and while the mountain may be almost 200 feet high, the coaster is nowhere near that high. The big drop is only 80 feet and you're going forward. The backwards section is entirely in the dark. It's still a very smooth ride, not jarring a all. The ride is very comfortable. It's almost there, but it's still not what I'd call a big boy coaster. I'll leave that to RnRCoaster, which isn't that bad either, despite the power launch, loop and 2 corkscrews. Disney's only real big boy coasters are California Screamin' and the Paris version of Space Mountain.
You should think about trying the non-spinning version of Mission Space as well.

Re: Chicken Little needs advice and opinions!

If anyone is curious what RnRCoaster looks like inside the building, here is a link to pictures of a Dutch coaster called Xpress that is almost exactly the same as the Disney coasters. Disney nor Vekoma, the manufacturer will acknowledge any involvement, but coaster enthusiasts recognize Vekoma's coasters when we see them. EE and California Screamin are also Vekoma products, again Disney won't acknoledge.

That was a really neat link. Thanks for posting it.

So, which is it? the drop on EE happens while you are going forward or going backward? Someone else posted it happens when you are going backward.
