Another question on MNSSHP

How does this work for people already at the park? Do they boot you out of the park at a certain time and have you buy another ticket?

I asked Sandy if she was interested in going to Mickey's Halloween party and she said yes, but then i told her we had to purchase separate tickets and she seemed mildly annoyed. She doesn't understand why we need to buy tickets to go to something in a park we are already visiting?

I was really interested in going to see this, but she doesn't like the idea of paying another $40 a person to go to a park we've already paid to be in just to see a Headless Horseman. (That sounds so cool).

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

If you have purchased the ticket for MNSSHP they don't kick you out. You just show them your ticket and get a wrist band when there asking people that haven't purchased them to leave and you go right along with what your doing. It was great when we did and look forward to MVMCP this year

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

the park would close early that day, so think of it like that. if you don't have the MNSSHP tix - the park closes at 7. you are buying a ticket to a special party, and it costs extra. it is soooo worth the extra! we had such a great time - the park was not very crowded - fireworks and parade are wonderful - and villains, villains, villains!!

i can understand not wanting to pay extra when you're already paying alot for tix - but it is kinda like adding on something completely different - like the waterparks - to me anyway. not something I would expect to be a part of my package. there are some days the park closes early & there's nothing goin on (well, in slow seasons, I think we encountered that once in January). so, this is just icing on the Disneylicious cake!

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

For me, I cannot pay twice to go to the park in one day. So what we do is spend our day doing something other than the parks, then use the hard ticket to get into the park after 4pm.

Thats what we do too ddoll!

We usually like to go to a water park or spend the day at the pool and then get to the park around 4pm. We like to get an ADR in the park for dinner around 6pm right befor the party starts. So we have a couple hours to ride before dinner.

I've never even thought twice about buying the extra ticket. We've been to MNSSHP three times and MVMCP once...WORTH it everytime!!

That's pretty much it. There is a change over period between 4 PM and 7PM when they allow party ticket holders to begin entering the park. They are given a colored wristband that says MNSSHP 2007 on them. After 7 PM they start herding guests without wristbands towards the front of the park and the exits. They will even stop you from going into the stores after about 7:15 without wristbands. You will not be able to get onto rides or get trick or treat candy without wristbands. You might, and I emphasize MIGHT be able to mingle with the crowds in the hub and last throught he first parade, but you'll be feeling like a fugitive before long.

I used to plan the party for our arrival day and that way have tickets for the rest of the time we are there. We would buy a room only and party ticket only for that day and then go onto our package the next morning. There's a whole different dynamic in action now that we have annual passes. My pass for this year alone has paid for itself already, and that's without even walking into DQ or the water parks. I've already spent 16 days in the parks.

If you buy the tickets in advance they are under $40. If you have an AP, you can save a few more dollars that way.

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

Thanks guys..

thing is.. we have a 7 or 8 day hopper pass so we've already paid, in theory, it just feels odd to fork over another $80 to a park we can already visit.

SG..i love your fugitive idea.. mingle in the crowd like a stowaway...

Someone here at work was reading my last post and they had an interesting question. Suppose you had no idea there was a Halloween party and you made a stink about having to leave when you already paid for park entrance. She thinks they'd probably just let you stay. I can see that happening for people not in the know like everyone here. I'm not about to raise a fuss because i'm not like that, but i wonder how many times that's happened over the years?

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

It will only work until the first parade and you won't ride a blessed thing, nor be able to shop or buy food.
How many times does it happen? Well, maybe 1,000 times each party night.

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

MNSSHP is really worth the extra money if you can do it. The atmosphere is incredible and the fireworks and parade are amazing! The last time we went we got nough sweets to last us for the rst of the trip, the journey home, and a few days afterwards! Another great thing is gusts getting the chance to dress up. Im still yet to don a costume for this but some I have seen are so extravgant you'd think they were part of the cast!

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

I thought it was worth the extra money to go too! We didn't plan on going to the park that day and went about 5:30 and ate at LTT. The fireworks were awesome and the treats they gave out were not too bad either. Ours lasted through Halloween!! (We were there at the end of September '06.) As far as I know, even if you were to make a big stink about it, they probably wouldn't let you stay, even if you didn't know anything about it. As stated, they give you a wristband and those without it can't do anything.

No, they would not let you stay just because you "didn't know". The park CLOSES at 7pm. They have signs when you enter the park to let guests know that the park will be closing early (unless you have the separate party tickets).

And, yes, if all you care to do is ride & shop - I agree it's silly to pay extra to visit a park you can already visit. HOWEVER, the special events, parade and fireworks are not something you can see on a just a regular park day.

Re: Another question on MNSSHP

Is it being selfish and stubborn to ask why we should pay twice for a park we've already paid to be in?

Sandy just isn't down with paying twice even for a special party. She figures with all the money we fork over to be there and the souvenirs charging for a Halloween party just seems like gouging the guests.

I wanted to surprise her and buy the tickets anyway (because i know she'd love it), but she told me not to because she's totally against the idea. If she found out i did, she'd bug out on me.

I tried to reason with her about all the $$$ we are saving with the Free Dining, but it didn't do any good.

I guess you just have to think of it as the special event that it is, and all that goes along with it. This is not the only time during the year when this happens. MNSSHP in the fall, MVMCP at the holidays, P&PP (new this year) at various times -- and this is not just true of the MK, there are also hard ticket events occasionally at MGM (Tom Joiner family reunion, etc.) The parks have even been known to close early on occasion for private functions. If this falls on a day you are there, then that's the extent of time your ticket is valid.

You have not paid to be there past closing and on the night in question, closing is at 7pm (closing times vary throughout the year for many, many reasons). Regular closing this time of year for the MK is usually 9:00pm anyway. MNSSHP continues until Midnight.

I do see the point you are trying to make, however Disney considers this a special event (limited # of tickets are available) this way only the people who pay the money for the tickets get access to the park during this special time. Again, IMO it's COMPLETELY worth it...sorry that she doesn't think so.
