Bootleg Disney theme park in Beijing, China (Shijingshan Amusement Park)

I found several articles on the Internet about a theme park in China called Beijing Shijingshan Amusement Park, which seemingly is breaking EVERY copyright law in terms of anything Disney, including the park characters! Here are some links?

To add insult to injury, their slogan is "Disneyland is Too Far Away". How they get away with this is beyond me!

I think this kind of thing is just terrible. I just wonder if anything wil or can be done about it. (Just knowing where this has occurred & thinking about how difficult it would be.)

Madness!! How they've gotten away with it is unbelivable! I bet nothing gets done about it though, I suppose if they say its a big eared cat then it's a big eared cat...no matter how obviouse its mouse-ness is!

oh that's just to funny.....like they will even be able to compete with anything disney...heck they couldn't even stay open. My guess is Disney had a real good laugh over this as they folded...

When I was in grad school one of the people I worked with was from China and he said that copyright laws were broken all the time in China and not much was done to prevent it. I hope Disney at least tries to stop it, but I'm sure there's so much copyright infringement that they'd be in court all the time... (For example, a local garbage collector uses Pinocchio on their trucks...they call themselves Finocchio's).

I for one will boycott the park since well uh I don't speak Chinese and well uh I can't afford airfare and I'm not sure where it is and uh well... ... anyway I'm not going to buy there t-shirts off the internet, or display their ball thingy on my antenna and well I got enough Chinese stuff as it is. Anyway, I bet corporate America will really throw a fit when the hear about this... well, I'm sure Disney will renegotiate the price of the stuff they have made over there anyway, maybe... How is China doing on their duplicate statue of liberty?!

This is just too sad for words. So many kids actually thinking they are getting a "Disney experience", when in all actuallity, this is just a REALLY twisted version. Kinda creepy really. They say imitation is the best form of flattery, but in this case it's just insulting, disgusting, fithy, and degrading.

On a lighter note, once I got past my inital shock and horror, I actually got a good laugh about this. And the stuff on "Nara Dreamland", that had me nearly falling out of my chair. Oh man is Jason gonna get a kick out of this when I show it to him tomorrow!

There was a story a couple years back. I don't recall if it was the Yaris, a Scion, or the Chevy Cobalt, but because parts were being built in china, they had been able to counterfit the car and their counterfit copies were actually on the market two months before the real car. Copyright infringement in China is a major trade issue that the continue to ignore. That they're counterfiting Disneyland, especially with a Disneyland in Hong Kong, should surprise absolutely NO ONE! Counterfiting of DVD and CDs in China is rampant and not a thing is being done by the Chinese government to stop it.
