AK to MGM

My friend and I are hitting the World in October and one day we're planning to spend the day in AK and then head to MGM for Fantasmic and Extra Magic Hours. Is there a bus that runs from AK to MGM or do we have to go to DTD or a Resort and change buses? I've never gone from AK to MGM before so not sure of the best route.

There is a bus from AK to MGM. You can get a bus from any park to any park but there isn't any buses from DTD to any of the parks, they only go to the resorts!

Missy knows the weakness of Disney Transport. They don't serve DTD from the parks. It's supposed to discourage day guests from parking for free in DTD and then busing in to the parks. Also, if you want to go from Epcot to MGM, you have a choice of Friendships from the International Gateway or bus from the main gate. Technically, you can't get a bus to other parks from MK. You must go to the TTC and get the bus from there. It's easier to walk to the Contemporary and get a bus to any Disney destination. Oh, and with the exception of resorts that share routes, you can't go from resort to resort on Disney Transport, e.g. Boardwalk to Poly. Again, you have to transfer through a park or at DTD.

I'm actually pretty good at finding my way around the World on the buses, boats and monorails. I've just never hopped from AK to MGM. Usually if I'm hopping from park to park I'm either going from Park A to Epcot or MK for the evening. I was pretty sure there was a bus from AK to MGM I just wanted to double check. Thanks guys.

My last visit to WDW was a day trip and I parked in the TTC lot. I hit all 4 parks that day using mostly park to park buses, though I did walk to the Contemporary to catch a bus to AK.

this is new to me. i didn't know you can catch a bus to one theme park to another. that's awesome. when did they start doing this?

I have taken the bus from AK to MGM...many times. Me and DD rarely last at the aK park past lunch time if we go at rope drop.

Its great going from park to park, we did this on our last day back in Jan, hitting all our favorite rides and then moving on! If you are going to get a MGM bus from a resort then AKL is the closest to AK plus it'l give you a chance to check the place out if you havn't befor, it's amazing! From AKL it takes about 20-ish minutes I think to get to MGM but don't hold me to that!

You don't even need to go to a resort. They have a bus that goes directly from one park to the next.

Yep but if you have time to spare it's a good way of checking out some of the other resorts
