Views on the Keys to the Kingdom tour?
Hey guys, I've got great news! Since the recent discovery that Blizzard Beach would be closed on our trip in 2 weeks, our second option was the Keys to the kingdom tour. We'll just yesterday my mom booked reservations for me and her to take the 9:30 tour on 5/10! I decided to take it after reading many reviews, and gathering info here on DC. It seems that the pro's outwieghed the Cons. I understand there's a chance of seeing Mickey without his head on :nooo:  :!: , but thats the chance you gotta take if you want to see the Utilidoors! lol. I want to some day work for the Disney Company (My goal is president of WDW, and if in 10 years I make it, contact me and you all can stay at the Walt Disney suite in the GF! lol) , and think this will offer some insight on how the whole thing works. Now that I've blabbed on and on, Ill get to the point, lol. What are some of your opinions on this tour? What was your experience like if you've taken it? How big were the tour groups and where there any teens? I can't wait until this tour, I hope I return with a plethora of Disney Knowledge to share! thanks in advance!
Joe:) P.S. OH yea one more thing! Anybody going to the MK on sat, May 10th look for me and my mom wearing our blue ribbons walking around with a big group! lol

How wonderfull!!! I'd love to take this tour one day!! I know you'll enjoy it. You will have to make sure to take notes along the tour, so you can post VERY detailed reports about it!!
Oh...I will take you up on that offer of the GF in 10 yrs when you become president of WDW!!!! I don't even need the WDW suite, just need a nice room for 2 weeks...ok, make it a month and all will be well!!! :laugh

Thanks tigger and Quartz. :D lol. Ill be sure to post a trip report tigger. Unfortunatly Janelle the tour is only available to 16 year olds+, and disney is very strict about it. My mom tried to make reservations when I was 15 and Disney wouldn't let her. When we go to city hall to check in for the tour, I need to bring my photo ID with me so they can check! lol. The only reason I can think of for the age limit is that disney thinks kids under 16 can't handle seeing Mickey with his head off...Quite frankly I dont know how I'm going to react if I see Goofy taking a lunch break with Minnie!! They may need a stretcher handy!:p .

I don't know how I would react to seeing the characters with their heads off, and I'm 37. I fear it would certainly change my view of the fantasy, mostly in the MK, where I would probably think about that experience every time I see a character. To me, I'll let sleeping dogs lie. ;)

Joe- with your charm & drive Eisner better watch out!! DH & I took the tour years ago but we both thought it was a mistake that it took some of the magic away. We have since had Disney lobotomies & don't remember a thing from the tour. :) A suite at GF sounds lovely. Thank you.

Mick- thats how I felt! This tour was actually kind of a suprise for me! I just casually mentioned it to my mom in a conversation about what to do at WDW since BB was closed. I honestly can say I didn't think anything of it. It was just one of those "It would be nice too.." kind of things, lol. I also would over analyze how terrible it would be to see the person behind the mouse, and how it would ruin the magic for me. But i finally reasoned with myself this:
I always knew there was someone inside that suit, and I always knew that the trash had to go somewhere, I just couldn't bring myself to admit that, lol. So I'm taking this tour as a way to get more of an understanding of how the Disney Company puts the "Magic" together for all of us to enjoy on our vacations! It's kind of like taking a tour of the Pixie Dust factory! lol I've also read that we only go underground for a very short time, so it shouldn't be that bad, i hope!;) Did that make any bit of sense??? Sorry I just ramble off sometimes when no one is around to shut me up (and Im home alone right now, so I could go on and on...) Joe:)

My DW and I just got back from WDW. We went on the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour on Tuesday 4/29. I had asked for opinions on this ahead of time and the pros did outweigh the cons. I don't want to give too much away so here's a brief description of our tour. We had to meet at 8:15 for our 8:30 tour. This meant that we got into the MK early. Our tour had 14 people. One couple was there for their 25th anniversary, my DW and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and there were two couples on their Honeymoon. Our tour guide, Fred, was very nice and had a wealth of information on everything Disney. We rode the Jungle Cruise, before it opened, rode Pirates of the Carribean, then headed off to lunch at the Harbor House, where we had a very good meal in a secluded space upstairs. After lunch we headed to the Haunted Mansion for a quick ride. Then it was time to go to the tunnels. In between all of this Fred stopped and gave us lots of information that I never knew about WDW. We were through around 1:45 and had the rest of the day to enjoy the park. All in all it was very intersting and did not ruin any of the magic for my wife or myself. I highly recommend this tour. :) :) :)
