which parks - which days???

I've planned my itinerary for our 4th of July trip and now I'm having some doubts. We arrive on the 3rd (Thurs) and leave the 8th (Tues). I am only getting 4day hopper pass since the other 2 days will be travel days. I know it will be quite crowded so I've tried to pick days for each park based on crowds. My concern is, in everyone's opinion, since this is a holiday weekend AND July which are the best days to go at each park? Here is my itinerary thus far. Please let me know any opinions:
4th of July - MGM, since I figure MK will be unbearable during the day, but we will go at nite for fireworks
5th- Saturday- AK
6th Sun - Epcot (have PS for Princess breakfast) guessing that any weekend Florida people will be at MK instead of Epcot
7th Mon - MK hoping people who just came for 4th of July weekend will be gone - although I've also heard people travel Sun-Sun so their 1st day is Mon and usually at MK:dazed
Any opinions??

I was researching this same thing for Memorial Day Weekend. The best inormation I can give you is that its very confusing. They say that Fridays & Sundays are the best days to visit the parks. But with it being the 4th of July weekend I bet you could toss that idea out the window.
Hopefully someone here with some 4th of July expierence will come along shortly.
Good Luck!!

ssn,

For the normal which park, which day you can check this thread . I normally tell people that their mileage may vary, but I agree with Buzzlightyear... for the 4th, you can probably throw it out the window.

My suggestion would be to stay flexible. If the park that your in looks like a madhouse, check with guest relations or a cast member to see if they know which park looks the best.

Good luck!

Bruce

Two years ago we went to Disney the week of the 4th. The only day that was horrible was the 4th. We were at MK and left by noon. The crowd was HUGE! Nothing was worth waiting in line for over an hour. Good Luck. The end of you vacation should be great.

I haven't been in the MK for 4th of July, but I've been around at Blizzard Beach, and then over to the Grand Floridian to watch the fireworks. I would suggest maybe stopping at one of the monorail resorts to watch the fire works. Even though we have AP's and are staying the 4th of July weekend this year, I am NOT going into any parks at night. We may go to EPCOT or AK that morning, and then head to the pool for the afternoon and evening. Once it's time for fireworks, we'll be heading to the GF in the back by the water to watch the fireworks and electric boat parade. We saw it from that spot last year, and it was the most amazing spot!!!! We didn't have to worry about crowds at the parks before/after the fireworks!! (we went one year on NYE and I will NEVER go there on a late holiday like that again!)

Either way, you plans look fine, and as long as you know to be a little patient, you should have a wonderful time!:D

OMG I know! My sister and I went to EPCOT on NYE and I could not believe how crowded it was. It started raining right before the first Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. By the time the show started it was downpouring and didn't stop raining all night. We left halfway though the show even though it was only about 7:45. It was fun being there on NYE but I agree with you go to the park in the morning and early afternoon and FORGET about going to see the fireworks, watch them from outside the park. :dazed :dazed

It was years ago when I went w/my parents and sister to MK for NYE. I remember thinking how wonderful it was to see the fireworks from there. It was busy but we did stay. The HORRIBLE thing about it was waiting in the line for the monorail back to the TTC center and to the cars. We must have waited *standing* in line for almost 2 hours...no lie!! Our feet were killing us. It was horrible. That was the last time my dad ever went to WDW!! He said never again and meant it!:madmad So now we find alternate ways to enjoy the fireworks and the Magic of WDW on those given bad days. I'm sure 4th of July is no where near as bad as NYE though!!!

Based on everyone's input - it just confirmed what I thought! So therefore I took drastic measures!!! Instead of arriving on the 3rd of July I changed our arrival date so we arrive on the 1st!!! That way if it gets too crazy towards the end of the week at the parks we can take a "day off" in between. Also now that we have 7 days to see everything we can split the parks up into a few hours in the am and a few in the pm. Thanks for sharing your experiences I am bracing myself for the crowds now!!!

That sounds like a good plan SSN!! That's the perfect way to do it! I'm for anything that adds a few more days into your Disney Trip!! You should be hitting the parks before the big rush of weekend 4th of July vacationers (like myself)!! Very smart! You'll have a great time!!
