Those "special" fast passes

Anyone got any idea what conditions have to perfectly align for me and the family to score some of those special "Dream" fast passes?

I mean, is it a way for Disney to make up for some error they made, or if a ride breaks down when you are on it, ect.; or is it just blind luck and a right-place, right-time kind of thing going on with those...

Anybody got any hints or ideas?? Or am I just worried about waiting in line all day and night....

Re: Those "special" fast passes

Do you mean Dream fastpasses? Those are a prize offered during the Year of a Million Dreams. In order to win one of those you must be in the right place at the right time, or as we say the "dream" place at the "dream" time. That will give to six fastpasses, good that day at that particular theme park. That is a completely random prize you could win.

There are also Rider Switches. This allows parents to wait with a child who is too short or just not ready to ride an attraction while the rest of the party waits. Then that person who waited can ride the attraction with minimized wait. Each attraction's policy is unique though.

There is also regular fastpass, which is free for all our guests! Don't be afraid to utilize this sysytem! Done right, it can minimize your time waiting in lines and allow you to see much more at Walt Disney World!

Re: Those "special" fast passes

Yes those are the ones! I guess I was thinking that these were a premium offered to, i don't know, make up for some gaffe or error. Not that I want any, just that I am really worried about waiting in line for 2 hours to see POTC. I will use FastPass as soon as I get there, I just am fuzzy on the logic, not having experienced FastPass yet...

Re: Those "special" fast passes

I would see crowds of people walking my way with Dream Fasspass and think to myself ~ "they must be giving them away around the corner!" But it never happened for us. I also saw so many leaving the park at the end of the day with full passes ~ meaning they hadn't used them Guess they were keeping them for a souvienr.

I believe it is completly random when they give them out, but I believe I've read somewhere here that there are a few places they do so more regularly than others.

Either way, I agree with Rosebud ~ use the regular fastpass system and you should have no problem enjoying the world.

Re: Those "special" fast passes

I just have bad luck waiting for rides: A few months ago I waited in line at Six Flags in GA for the DEJA VU Roller coaster for over an hour. I got really close and they closed the ride. Bummer. So, I went over to the GOLIATH around the corner. What are the odds it happened again? Well, I didn't wait an hour, but about 20 minutes and they closed the ride also. I am just worried my entire WDW vacation will be me waiting in a rat-maze line until my ADR kicks in

You can try dressing in matching shirts....that sometimes gets the attention of the CMs.

Maybe you're giving them the evil eye and you don't know it, Chuckles.
You won't have those problems at WDW
And the fast passes are easy enough to optain. Just make sure you get to the parks early.
I can't remember, are you staying on Disney property? Then you have the advantage of early entry (EMH) and get a lot done before the masses show up

Maybe DH would entertain the idea of wearing brightly colored shirts that say "It's our 1st anniversary!" or maybe hats that say Bride and Groom? LOL Yeah, right, not in this lifetime. A girl can hope, right? Maybe I'll make one that says, "Hubby wouldn't wear matching shirts for our 1st anniversary so I'm wearing this instead." Oh, I've been up too long.

I don't think it matters, they have some sort of system that directs those dream people to the "winners"

Re: Those "special" fast passes

It really is luck to get the dream fastpasses. But, I have found that you can increase your luck by being in the park when it first opens. On our last trip, my husband and two older kids got dream fast passes when they got off SM for the first ride of the day(right after rope drop) and my younger son and I got pins and lanyards after our first ride of the day-on Peter Pan. The dream squad was just waiting for us as we got off the rides and handed over the goods. It was really cool. Try this, it may just work!

BAM!
Well, I aim to be first on the "ride of the day" so maybe that will help.
If I leave it up to luck, I might as well give up. She is not a lady with me.

Re: Those "special" fast passes

Chuck-that day I was speaking of, they were giving tons of them out, not just to the first person on the ride. I think they were waiting until people started getting off the ride and then just handed them out until they ran out.
Your best bet is to be there at rope drop and as soon as it drops, run your heiney over to the headliner rides. Maybe this will work. Can't wait to hear if it does!!

Re: Those "special" fast passes

That is 100% the plan. Each day - a diff ride, a diff park... maybe

Hey, I don't really know what the Dream Pass thing does that the ordinary FastPass won't... I imagine gets you a "cut" to the front of the line...

The Dream Fastpass functions the exact same way as the regular fastpass
